Ceara lost herself to Mordemoth when she stepped foot inside Omad’s machine. The mechanism that showed her the Eternal Alchemy severed her connection to the pale tree leaving her vulnerable to Mordemoths influence and corruption. The symbolic visions of the red thorn strangling the Pale Tree was Mordemoths own corruption spreading to kill the tree itself. I’d like to ask did we really kill Scarlet or Ceara? We knew her at the beginning as a independent being who chose their own destiny but as we saw her when she died, she seemed more like a rabid dog foaming at the mouth desperately trying to protect the drill so it can awaken her master. This completely contradicts the Ceara we know as she would die for no one. It really makes me wonder deep deep inside Scarlets own psyche she pleaded someone would kill her so she could stop the one thing she hated most: not having her own free will. I feel if she could have, she would have whispered thank you for freeing her from enslavement but the corruption that infested her would not let her do so. Personally, I feel we killed a highly intelligent champion of an elder dragon rather then the Scarlet we though we killed. Anyways we have a much bigger problem now.

Hmm… I wonder if “Scarlet Briar” will become a title of a champion of Mordremoth like the Shatterer is… But that would quickly diminish her name in the history of Tyria, and would also be confusing to newcomers, having referencies in the world about the first Scarlet Briar while being able to kill the new ones every 2 hours in Magus Falls or something.

I’m waiting for April Fools when scarlet comes back in a living world story and says, “The Breachmaker was merely a setback!!”

With the weird yellow stuff on her in the cutscene, I anticipate she’ll come back turning into a grotesque dragon with human limbs.
