What Scarlet saw, The Eternal Alchemy
Whilst alot of what Potato-San says is quite intresting.. Keep in mind that 99% of what he says is self-admitted speculation.
Also, I don’t think that video has much association, as that one was more focused on the connection between the gods and the dragons, with a lesser focus on the Eternal alchemy and the pale tree (whilst both are mentioned).
Edit; I just rewatched it..not be honest, Kersh’s (presumably last words) do seem pretty reminiscent of Scarlet’s. might be a connection? Might not be. I can honestly bet that the next video Potato-San makes will have reference to the one you posted, OP.

Oh yes ofc, it’s all just speculation. I’m not saying this is true but he does link the eternal alchemy and what was said to what scarlet saw. I just thought it would be interesting and nice to show people that anet is keeping stuff from gw1 as well even though it was made years ago and the lore is very interesting behind it.
. . . hmm. I remember that quest, never finished it but remember looking at the ciphered lines at the end having been translated and going: “Huh”.
Going to rewatch this a few times to try to get it all but something is not sitting right here.
I don’t know if it’s mentioned in WP’s video – I honestly cannot stand his videos anymore, I’m not sure if it’s the voice (most people like his, I don’t) or if it’s all the facts he gets wrong/left unmentioned in his “support.”
But I feel this is far more relevant: http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Varajar_Fells_Notebook Translation:
“I believe Varajar Fells will be my tomb, for I have no desire to leave this valley of tumbled gods. The facets have been revealed, and the cipher as well. I have mastered them. A greater understanding of the Eternal Alchemy is within my reach. Human gods, Charr gods, Norn animal totems – they are part of the all-encompassing Eternal Alchemy. I am humbled as never before by the grandeur of it, and by my own ability to conceive such vastness.”
This in of itself doesn’t really reveal much except the “valley of tumbled gods” and “charr gods” lines – especially dependent on whether it refers to titans or destroyers.
On Ceara “seeing the Eternal Alchemy” – I honestly don’t believe she saw all of it. Based off of the short story, it seems she only saw a fraction of it – the fraction dealing with the sylvari race – and perhaps she believes she saw all of it.
We already knew that the Six Gods are just “bigger cogs” in the Eternal Alchemy – not just from the GW1 quests but also from interviews about the Eternal Alchemy/various religions. So it only serves to reason that the Spirits of the Wild, the Elder Dragons, and even the Pale Tree are also “bigger cogs.”
However, Ceara’s vision does not point to a return of the gods in mention or a further elaboration of the Eternal Alchemy – it’s just background made in an attempt to make this happy-go-crazy sylvari super-genius have more “depth.” It isn’t impossible for Ceara to have seen a portion of the Eternal Alchemy, since Kerrsh seems to have, but in of itself it’s just two characters achieving similar accomplishments. All it really does is serve to make Ceara a slightly more believable character (though the witnessing of (part of) the Eternal Alchemy is far from her greatest flaw.
Stop treating GW2 as a single story. Each Season and expansion should be their own story.

Ya pretty much just regurgitated what he said in the video.
Or well. Sort of. Keep in mind, that video was made waaaaaaay back before anyone was expecting Scarlet or the ABs, so in a vague way, it kinda links but, however not much more beyond that.
I have my doubts Kerrsh saw part of the Eternal Alchemy, but he did get a response from the Facets in a sense . . .
All Kerrsh was saying in the notebook was that everything is interconnected. We’ve known this for years. It sounds like it was just an easter egg, though still a cool one for us GW vets. He didn’t see anything, aside from the facets and the humanoid that appeared during that particular eotn quest.
I respect Wooden Potatoes for the amount of work he puts into his lore videos, however I also am not particularly thrilled with the amount of misinformation he spreads as a result.
Well, considering that video has nothing to do with this event and was made like.. A year ago.. I don’t really see how it could be misinformation. .-.
I mean, sure, if he was saying, “Oh there’s gonna be a Sylvari that’s gonna come and screw things up because she’s seen the Eternal Alchemy” well.. Then yeah, I guess. But the video really doesn’t have anything to do with that, even in a largely indirect sense.
@Tobias: While he didn’t claim to have seen the Eternal Alchemy, he says to have a better understanding – which is more or less the same thing, seeing how the Eternal Alchemy isn’t a thing, but a concept to describe the meaning of life.
I mean, if you want to get technical, what Ceara saw couldn’t have been the Eternal Alchemy, but at best a representation of the Eternal Alchemy.
Presuming McCoy doesn’t botch this up like her interview.
@Zhaneel: It pretty much is only an easter egg. It’d be news for GW2-only folks who didn’t pay attention to interviews, but for others there’s little new.
Stop treating GW2 as a single story. Each Season and expansion should be their own story.

Kerrsh was going to have a “better grasp” after what happened, because he had a glimpse of what the Six Gods could do and might possibly be. It could be said to be the same as teaching algebra to someone – they will have a better grasp at math, but they don’t have nearly all of it understood. See, now there’s calculus and differential equations they still have to learn.
It wasn’t even a representation of it, it was a view of a part of it which could have hinted at a greater mechanism in motion. And that’s if you believe the Eternal Alchemy actually completely exists at all.
