In this video (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eoElPeNJwhc) Evon Gnashblade uses Hero-Tron to spy on the Captain’s Council…..but what could Evon learn from the Council that could benefit him? All I know is that he lost an election fair and square. Am I missing something?

Evon is a merchant, and information helps any merchant gauge the upcoming value of products. From political secrets to upcoming plans for the city – anyone can use such to make a small (or big) fortune.

Right now he feels like a merchant who wants to a lot of control, but is rather “clumsy” in his attempts.

While he has a good nose for potential markets, he does throw caution to wind and often dives in, without much research.

Latest example is him dabbling with ley line energy and having things get a bit out of control.

We have to see how far his greed pushes him, as I just can’t see him as someone who would things without expecting a profit for himself.

Wasn’t Gnashblade raised Ash Legion? Maybe he just wants to know what’s going on and spying to get the information is the best way he knows.

The Order of Whispers also keeps tabs on the Captains Council (they actually have one of their best agents on it) and I don’t think they’re doing it for any sinister purpose, they spy on everyone so that they’re aware of what’s going on and can take action when they need to.

Like Konig said the current events (and upcoming events) can have a big impact on trade. (For a real life example look at what’s happening in the UK at the moment, just talking about leaving the EU has caused the value of the pound to drop because of the uncertainty it causes) so there are obvious benefits to a business man to keep track of current events and if possible know what’s going to happen before his competitors do.

He’s looking for a titanium mine and looking to get in on the profits.

Right now he feels like a merchant who wants to a lot of control, but is rather “clumsy” in his attempts.

Since a poster above said he was raised Ash Legion he very likely wants it discovered as it’d serve as a distraction for the real means of gathering intel.

He can learn anything and everything, Not to mention all the secret dealings and blackmail material he can learn just by having an ear in the meetings. For people like him, information is more valuable than gold.

Plus, it all leads up to his final goal of getting…

Another consideration is that Evon may still be loyal to Ash – any information that may not be directly related to his economic and political aspirations may still be of interest to Malice.

Also whilst I don’t think it’s directly related the fact that he lost an election doesn’t mean he will never have a chance to get onto the Captain’s Council.

Having an election at all was unusual, normally the council chooses their own members so getting to know them, and getting to know about them, would be hugely beneficial. Of course he’s lost what may well be his only chance for quite a while because seats only become available when a member dies or steps down but that just means he’ll have more time to prepare.

Alternatively he may have only wanted to get onto the council in order to find out information that can benefit his business and now he’s found an alternative.

Actually….what you all are saying makes a lot of sense now. I can imagine Evon one day saying things like “thanks to a loyal informant I was to gather {insert information here} and go one step ahead and sell it to you, for a limited offer you ca now get your very own {insert new item here}”
