I’m posing this in Lore rather than in the Living Story section because I want to link this to theories that were made in this sub-forum.

Now with the F&F Living Story finished and the next step already implemented… what would you say Flame and Frost exactly meant?

With all events wrapped up, I think it was more a pun to Song of Ice and Fire than other thing.

We know what the “Flame” can refer to… but the Frost? During the months F&F lasted I saw some very interesting theories about how it could end up making the SoSvannir take a part on all of that and other theories trying to explain it one way or another.

I don’t think Dredge are really related to frost despite them operating in the Shiverpeaks. They’re more related to earth, underground and industry. The alliance showed a combination of industry and flame legion magic but no frost. The only frost we faced were the chilling refigerators at some points in the facility and some elementals gone wild at the start of the story before knowing what the real threat was. The Molten Alliance was an alliance of Flame and Industry, not Flame and Frost. And if it was for the territories while the Shiverpeaks would match with Frost, Ascalon is far from flame related so it isn’t about that either.

With some cool theories about it in this forum that would have explained it at the end being very far from what really happened, how do you feel about the story title? Do you think it was misleading and just a pun or do you think there is actually a logical explanation for it?

It’s all about the locations where it happened:
Flame = ascalon
Frost = shiverpeaks

I always thought:

Frost:
The dredge and flame legions sub terrain activity triggered steam vents and kittened up the weather which made a huge blizzard, forcing refugees south.

Flame:
The flame legion and dredge weapons/bases etc are all flame…….-y

I personally think the title would have made more sense if it was merely the Flame Legion + Dredge in Wayfarer’s. That way you have the environment (Frost) fighting back against the intruders (Flame). But with Diessa’s involvement (which makes a lot of sense story-wise) this way of thinking becomes a little more messy. I don’t think that Flame = Ascalon works too well either. I mean the climate is warm and all, but you don’t see much that screams Flame in the area.

I think the title is referring to the Molten Alliance in the Shiverpeak Mountains. For whatever reason, many of the NPCs seemed to ignore that there was conflict in Ascalon too.
