Where would be the Largos capitol?
I don’t even think the Largos city will be 100% swim only given how they’ve shown the ability to forge metal (their cool armors) and have human-like feet instead of membranes (or they wouldn’t hinder their swimming with boots with soles thar protect their feet bases from hard terrain and instead would show the membranes) so I’m guessing some sort of buble around the city, huge cave that keeps water away from most of it, or even a homage to Rapture, the underwater city of Bioshock given how much a-net likes to make reference to popular games and popular fiction material in general.
So I would discard places “right in the midle of the ocean” for that reason.
The empty area between between Asura and Sylvari capitols seem like a very apropiate place as it has an exist to a Lvl 1-15 area (and while they will share it with Asuras, when Tengu are playable they would share their Lvl 1-15 area with Sylvaris) and is located fairly close enough to Orr to justify how we see more Largos around that area without having exists to it.
It has many good ingredients to plant a capitol, specially one for an aquatic race. It has 2 “problems” though:
- It would overpopulate the Tarnished Coast with 4 capitols (1 of them arguably Krytan with an exit to TC).
- The area has water but a lot of solid terrain too and the Largos are said to come from the depths and given how all capitols were built a reasonable amount of time ago, a “newly constructed” capitol would feel lackluster in comparison, and if it were too big and detailed it wouldn’t be belieable.
There would be a possible fix for this though: That the Largos capitol works like a series of interconnected nomadic submarines and when the DSD influence in their area gets too strong they flee from it before it destroys their city and plant their city in that area. We know very litle about them so we don’t know how far their tech/magic goes so this sort of excuse for the emplacement could be made beliable without breaking any known lore as there isn’t much lore to break with them.
There are other possible areas though.
West of Rata Sum is a big chunk of terrain, and west of it there is a good amount of water without solid terrain traces that could perfectly hold an underwater city (or even the “nomad submarine” theory). North of it are the old GW1 falls, a big area that could be made as a Lvl 1-15 zone and hold some interesting lore bits, including seeing what happened to the old Zinn’s lab where MOX and the other golems where created so it would be an interesting exploration for many curious players.
Continue in following post.
A city located there could have an exit to the chunk of terrain I already mentioned, that might work as a Lvl 40-50 or higher area (like in Hoelbrak’s case with an exit to a mid-high level area) connecting to the Ring of Fire for some story purposse (my personal theory is that the DSD would be located west or southwest of the Ring of Fire, close enough to Maguuma to have some influence on rivers and lakes given how we still haven’t seen the “water tentacles” that are stated to appear on some lakes and rivers).
The whole Maguuma still have many interesting lore questions and arguably/possibly (assumption terrain again) directs to Mordremorth lair too so a capitol located there could be introducted both when dealing with the DSD (for the influence over the water there) or when dealing with Mordy if he’s indeed located somewhere there.
It would still be a Maguuman capitol, but at least wouldn’t make the Asura+Sylvari+Tengu area too dense as it has enough distance from them.
The third area that could hold the Largos capitol IMO would be south of the Deldrimor Front. That area is highly unused so it would be good to hold a new capitol and low level areas connecting to already existing high level areas.
The main problem with that area is that if DSD is close to where the Largos are (close enough for them and the Quaggans and Kraits to feel his effect before anyone else), it would mean the DSD would be located between Kralkatorrik big mark and Zhaitan’s lair, overpopulating a sections of the map with Elder Dragons and if they’re rivals they should’ve been clashing more often in a noticeable way.
Those are the most likely places to put their capitol IMO. Of course there is still the possibility of it being somewhere not shown in the current map that will be increased with expansions, but I think that all new races campaigns will connect with the main campaign so you can play it with whatever your main race is (there was a point in all GW1 campaigns where no matter from which continent you were, your story would connect to other expansions campaign). And given how instead of humans from different continents we get different races, I think that new races, or at least the ones comming first would be located around the known map (but possibly on already unexplored zones) so they’re close to where the first campaign (and arguably more future campaigns given how at least 3 or 4 dragons could be fought without expanding the current area and there is enough unexplored areas to even hold campaigns not related to them, just cleaning more currently foged areas) takes place so you don’t need to move too much during the story steps that lead you to Lion’s Arc and then to the main campaign.
Where do you think their city could be placed? Am I forgetting some important info that would dismiss some of my theories about their locations and provide more facts about their exact emplacement?
Remember this is supposed to discuss their possible capitol, not the possibility of them being playable or not.
I don’t think they got a capital city. They are skirmishers, prefering fighting alone.
Also i see no chances to be a playable race, since they must be able to play as all of the professions. They oly wield swords and spears, so…
And they are a very very new race to the lore. Even the sylvari was hinted in GW1. No largos anywhere before GW2 release.
They (mostly) also avoid any connection with other races.

- They have a a society, they’re divided in Houses and strictly follow rules in the Tethyos Concordant, which implies some form of government.
- The ones we’ve seen wield swords… so… how exactly that means that’s everything they can do?
- They’re new to the lore, but the things we know from them make them perfect candidates for a playable race (they even have clearly defined “bio” questions for possible character creations with a society divided in houses).
- If you explore the map and play through the campaign they become more and more “sociable”. At the end of the campaign a Tengu says he will send word to his people about the Pact, and a Largos says the same, implying that they see potential on the alliance. They’re introducted to us in small bits like the Sylvari were some time ago. We get to discover how their society works and they start to see potential on allying with other races from the surface.
- As I said, this thread is not for discussing if they would or not be playabe. It has been discussed in other threads and in fact except for Tengu (and because Tengu are obvious) they’re the most probably race by far given the series of “traits” pointing in favor or against being playable of each race. But again this thread is not for discuss, it’s to discuss what would be a good placement for a possible capitol if they ever become playable.

I’d assume the Largos city wouldn’t be too far undersea or it would be within some sort of hollow.
I can see the pressure that would crush human bones being a problem far enough down. If they have a capitol city at all, we’ll see what Anet comes up with.
Perhaps not a bubble, but some sort of vast underground cave, or grotto. For some reason, I get a very Kurzick-y feel from these guys, so it would make sense to me that they also dwell in a place of stone. Also, if they did indeed live underground, it would be interesting to see if they have ever had any relations with the Asura, although they probably wouldn’t have ventured that far beneath the ocean.
