Q:

Hey everyone,

according to https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Bloodstone the Bloodstone was “split into five pieces to limit the races’ ability to use magic. The first four segments rule over its respective school of magic: Preservation, Aggression, Denial, and Destruction. The fifth fragment, the keystone, is required if one were ever to make the bloodstones one.”

I’m rather sure we can say, it was not the keystone which exploded. But which other stone was it?

Does it have an effect on all those magic users connected to that kind of magic?

I know that these days the old separation of magical school doesn’t exist anymore exactly like this, but the magic users still can be classified to one of those schools.

We were never able to find out which bloodstone was which.

I know some players suspected the one in the Ring of Fire island chain was the keystone, simply because it stayed there when the volcano erupted and sent the other 4 across Tyria.

If I remember correctly the one in Bloodstone Fen is suspected to be either Agression or Denial, because in GW1 it caused resurrection spells in the area to be much slower to activate and in lore no one who was killed on a bloodstone could ever be resurrected. (Although this is not conclusive because the same effect is seen on the one in the Ring of Fire islands.)

At the time it was unclear how much of that was due to the bloodstone itself and how much was because the mursaat had them hooked up to soul batteries, which absorbed the souls of people killed on the stones. But as we now know their souls remained bound to the bloodstone long after the soul batteries were destroyed I think it’s safe to assume it is an effect of the stone itself.

But we also now know the bloodstone was originally created by the seers to absorb and hold magical energy, not just to regular magic as we were told in GW1. So it’s possible that’s actually an effect all of them have regardless of which school they relate it.

It’s often speculated that the bloodstone that was in Bloodstone Fen was the Preservation one, mainly because of the Rejuvenating Waters surrounding the area (still present: https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Mending_Waters )

We can do that one better- it doesn’t seem to have gotten a lot of attention, maybe because it was a missable bit of dialogue in the raid, but we now even know that the soul batteries were made out of bloodstone.

Rather, that’s Glenna’s theory. It’s not truly fact.

We’ll likely find out in E2 or E3 (if E3 sticks in the Ring of Fire area).

Dear ANet writers,
Stop treating GW2 as a single story. Each Season and expansion should be their own story.

It’s often speculated that the bloodstone that was in Bloodstone Fen was the Preservation one, mainly because of the Rejuvenating Waters surrounding the area (still present: https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Mending_Waters )

It’s also speculated that the Shiverpeaks bloodstone in Bloodstone Caves is Aggression (the necromancer school, or so we think), since that has an aura that causes creatures to heal when other creatures die.

To those who think Scarlet hate means she’s succeeded as a villain:
People don’t hate Scarlet like Game of Thrones fans hate Joffrey.
They hate her the way Star Wars fans hate Jar Jar Binks.
