There is an area named after this person and he is also in one of the fractals. Is there any lore behind him, is he the first Dragon Shaman by any chance?

Lornar is a legendary Dwarf warrior. In 534 AE, he single-handedly held back an invasion of Hill Giants. http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Lornar

The shaman in the fractals is called Lornarr, not Lornar. They have similar names, but they are different people. As mentioned, Lornar was a dwarf.

It’s an easy confusion to make. I mean, think of how many people thought SARUMAN was the big bad of LOTR! Imagine the egg on their face when he was defeated and there was still two and a half hours of movie to go!

That’s why he was called Aruman in the Rankin/Bass version of LotR.^^
