Just a short thought I had.

Today while standing in The Forgotten City, I overheard an NPC talking about how she was afraid that the exalted were related to the Mursaat, but that there was “no evidence to support their link”.

This was a wonderful chance to link the lore of Guild Wars 2 to Guild Wars’. Margonites or Mursaat could have been indirectly linked to the exalted but instead anet decided to do what they have already been doing since launch, and that is to create an entirely new set of rules and creations to add to their lore. While this is good to an extend in my opinion, they have done it so much that it might as well be an entirely new world.

Again, just my two cents, not sure if anyone feels the same or may even disagree. Cheers

Why would the mursaat or Margonites be at all related to Glint’s plans to save the world from the Elder Dragons?

Think about it. What’s the role the Exalted were created for? To act as “the next step” for Glint’s egg, which has the obvious primary function of focusing the PC away from the Pact Fleet so they don’t go down with it (just as Caithe taking it is for the sylvari reveal at end of S2). Would Glint really trust her enemies who would sacrifice entire races to save their own lives (mursaat) or are fanatically devoted to an insane god (Margonites) with her plan to save the world from the Elder Dragons? No.

It doesn’t make any logical sense for the mursaat to be related to the Exalted – Margonites even less so – due to the purpose the Exalted serve in the lore.

Also, Exalted do extend on GW1 lore. It extends on the relation between Forgotten and Glint, the Zephyrites who in turn are an extension on the Brotherhood of the Dragon and Glint, as well as it would seem a certain GW1 henchman may be one of the Exalted (they share names and both hail from Elona at least).

I’d rather mursaat be related to the raid and in turn the S3 plot.

Dear ANet writers,
Stop treating GW2 as a single story. Each Season and expansion should be their own story.

Tarir : Golden city encased in the ground (hence the name Auric Basin).

Mursaat City found by Saul d’Alessio : Towers reaching the skies.
Never was it said to be made of gold. The only gold is found on the Mursaats themselves. Their forts were black/reddish back in GW1.
And “to walk down the streets” can means “to follow the streets”, not that the city is in a vale. Mursaats are able to shift into an other realm where they put their cities, why bothering to hide them in vale if they’re already unreachable?

In my mind, the better complaint about discarding GW1 stuff in favour of new material would be that thematically, they could have just had the Forgotten rather than glowing floaty ex-humans. The main reason people glommed onto the mursaat was the similarity in appearance… a similarity in appearance that was always superficial, and the similarity between Forgotten-built Enchanted constructs and mursaat has been observed way back in Quintus’ theories in 2005.

(Since the mursaat were, for a time, allies of the Forgotten, it’s possible that the similarity actually isn’t entirely coincidental. If I recall correctly, before the mursaat fled they were the best fighters among the elder races due to Spectral Agony, while the Forgotten were more specialised in preventing and reversing dragon corruption – the Forgotten may have provided the mursaat with armour so they could better fight the forces of the Elder Dragons.)

To those who think Scarlet hate means she’s succeeded as a villain:
People don’t hate Scarlet like Game of Thrones fans hate Joffrey.
They hate her the way Star Wars fans hate Jar Jar Binks.

That is an interesting theory.
It’s not that the Forgotten mimic-ed the Mursaats with the Exalted and Tarir, but the Mursaats that mimic the Forgotten.
