The ritualist, it’s my favourite class in every game, ever.
There’s just something about the class that’s just so.. i don’t even know.
I just know i love the class, and I’d do anything to get them in gw2.

I know anet don’t really want to make more proffesions due to balancing issues
(see paragon)
But the ritualist was so unique, and so special to guild wars.

And i don’t really see many lore-reasons to why we shouldn’t be able to get ritualists. With the eventual Cantha expansion there would be no problem.
I assume we’ll be fighting against the tyranny there, I’m positive there’s a bunch of rebel ritualists.

I’ve also played it out in my head and ritualists would work with gw2s battle system.
They would be great at it. They’d be the kings of defending points in pvp, they’d be the lovable support in pve. And everything would be spirits and sunshine.

I could even make up a ton of weapon sets/weapon skills and utilities, i’m pretty sure anyone who played gw1 could.

So what do you guys think?
Do you guys want ritualists?

They sort of folded Ritualists into Rangers.

You could say they split it up i guess.
Into rangers/mesmers and somewhat guardians.

But just as a faint little hope, i hope we’ll see a pure ritualist again

The ritualist is one of my favorite classes in GW1. I’d love to see it back again, fully preserved unlike the mesmer is nothing but a shadow of its old self.

Rangers have always had spirits in GW1, spirits of nature, and they still do in GW2. So no, the ranger did not get those spirits from the ritualist which came later in the first campaign Factions. The spirits the ritualist evoques are dead spirits that the ritualist chains in reality to make them do their biddings. Grenth is the god of the ritualist, so the class is closer to the necromancer, who has also Grenth for god. Rangers who are close to nature and life are complete opposite, and their goddess is Melandru a goddess of nature

I doubt the Ritualist will come back exactly as it was, as it has basically been splintered into the Guardian/Ranger/Engineer.

As much as I absolutely loved the Ritualist I find it hard to see it making a return, unless it comes back as a Soldier Profession?
Summoning and using ashes to buff, do damage and spread conditions, possibly?

It would be nice to see it back, I would just love to see it back at all, even if it was just limited to NPCs.

O.o Not really. Rangers had nature spirits long before Ritualists came around. Lore-wise the Ritualist is pretty absent. Game-play wise the Engineer is filling their role, but as this is the lore forum, I’m not sure that’s particularly relevant.

I’m aware of that but personally I have zero interest in the engineer, zero interest into turets, technology class. What I love about the ritualist is that the ritualist is a dark class, a caster, a shaman of sort who travels in the worlds and who evoke spirits into reality, chains them, and make them do their biddings. I love the casting animations of the ritualist.

They’re a bit in engineers, guardians, and necromancers. Necromancers and guardians got some more spectral like skills, and engineers got the mechanical sides. I don’t see ritualists in rangers at all. Those nature rituals existed in GW1 too, so…

What I love about the ritualist is that the ritualist is a dark class, a caster, a shaman of sort who travels in the worlds and who evoke spirits into reality, chains them, and make them do their biddings.

Go necro, and spec in spectral skills and Shadow Fiend. There’s even shamanistic armor for you too! And blindfolds. (though I wouldn’t get the male blindfold… that’s too BDSM bondage like for my tastes – unless it was the charr racial armor).

Dear ANet writers,
Stop treating GW2 as a single story. Each Season and expansion should be their own story.

I never liked and never used minions in GW1 on my necromancer, except when I was forced to, like in Factions, I used mostly blood and curses. I was hoping minions would be more fun in GW2 but it’s not the case so I’m playing my necro without minions again. The chained spirits of the ritualist in the other hand are really fun and so totally cool and creepy, everything about the ritualist is awesome, like channeling and zapping mobs.
