mesmer teleportation
this is sort of a quick question, but in the LW S2, kasmeer can’t do a teleport over a longer cliff, in which marjory had to create a bridge made out of bones.
is there a sort of limit of mesmer teleportation (beyond game mechanics) or has farther teleportation not been something that’s been explored within mesmer magic for some reason or other?
Or maybe she isn’t as skilled with portals compared to other Mesmers?

that…… honestly hadn’t crossed my mind.
But the question does still stand however. Is it possible for mesmers to teleport extremely long distances? hate to bring up another mmo, but mages in world of warcraft can teleport between continents, is it possible for mesmers to do the same?
or is it that form of magic that inspired asuran waypoints and waygates? and thus negated the need for mesmers to teleport themselves or provide long distance portals?
As far as we’ve heard, asura devices are the only way to teleport long distances. If mesmers could do it I’m sure we’d have an example by now, since the ability to do it on demand is much more convenient then gates or even waypoints.
Off the top of my head, the longest range mesmer port we’ve seen was in the end of ToN, when Kasmeer ports us from the top of the tower back to the shore. Iirc, it took quite a bit of concentration, so I’d guess that’d be pretty close to the maximum range.
Also, the way I see waypoints (and the way others apparently do as well), is they are direct point A to point B in lore, not accessible anywhere.
It seems like long range teleportation is either by waypoints or gates, or special magical devices.
It has to vary from individual to individual too. It would not surprise me if Queen Jennah could do it quite a bit further than Kasmeer did for example, considering she demonstrated superhuman-like ability when the branded attacked Ebonhawke. She simultaneously projected an illusion that Kralkatorrik flew by again and that all of the combatants got turned into branded, tricking the hordes of branded into thinking the battle was won, while simultaneously paralyzing all of the allied combatants to prevent them from breaking the trick of the illusion. I don't know if there is a single other example of such extreme mesmer power in lore.
In the pre-release Factions lore doc An Empire Divided, Vizu issaid to have shadow stepped continuously from the Harvest Temple to the shores of the Jade Sea, out running the Jade Wind which would likely be moving at the speed of sound until running out of energy at said shores. Depending on which shore, she could have traversed via teleportation across roughly 1/3rd of Cantha on water.
In the Factions trailer, she is seen shadow stepping from the bottom to the highest floor (which looked to be at least 10 or sofloors) in a single leap.
While famous post-mortem due to her dealings with Shrio, she was a run of the mill assassin in life.
If assassins can do that 450 years prior to GW2, then I see no reason why modern mesmers (who seem to use magic similar to assassins/thieves) couldn’t.
I’m guessing Kasmeer just isn’t that focused on teleportation magic. After all, she summoned five clones during Scarlet’s End, and was casting near continuous TimeWarps at Fort Salman (the latter makes me think she’ll be the first chronomancer).
Stop treating GW2 as a single story. Each Season and expansion should be their own story.

IIRC, Vizu was turned to a statue on the shores of the Kurzick side of the Jade Sea somewhere.
Konig makes a fair point. Even if there’s a skill ceiling or some such on the length of a single portal, stringing together a series of shorter blinks is more a matter of magical stamina, and that’s something that Tyrian spellcasters seem to have quite a bit of.
I would say there are no known limits on teleportation as it’s never really explored. The only reason WE can’t blink further/over gaps is game mechanics.
