It’s the chain I beat you with until you
recognize my command!”
Im sure its been brought up before. But what justification is there for multiple unique items and legendaries? Like muliple Twilights, or several copies of Monsoon? I understand the mechanics behind it (because only having 1 of each such item in the game would be the dumbest thing ever) but i dont understand how it works as for as “in game reality” is concerned. Any thoughs?
Video games.
Right!?
But more of what i was getting at was are our characters, as far as in game, the only such heroes? The npcs seem to react as if we are the only ones. The story plays out as if only my character is “the boss”. I was just curious as if that was the case. However the group events don’t take that into consideration….
In order for the lore to function pretty much every single MMO out there simplifies it so that, for the purposes of the story, you are the singular hero. It wouldn’t make a whole lot of sense in the lore for us to be so important if there were actually as many heroes as there are players running around. So for the purpose of the story, you’re the only one who exists (sort of… It’s a video game, they don’t put quite that much thought into this kind of stuff because it gets too complicated). It’s an MMO so they have to have group content, but it would be very difficult for them to account for that in lore. I assume that in GW2 it’s kind of the same as in FFXIV (though it’s never stated) where any time you have a group of people you are still the main, super important, hero person, while everyone else in our group are just other adventurers who are helping you out but are, for the purposes of the story, less important than you are.
They’re all fakes.
Only you have the real one.
But seriously, I just pass such things off as “non-existent in lore”. Only one of the uniquely named items exist.
Other players are just random adventurers, mercenaries, whathaveyou.
That`s why there was supposed to be a factory for the fire dragon swords, to make them used as a war weapon.
All players who are holding them at the moment just have replicas.
For the others. Well suspension of disbelief, videogame logic and if you got one, you are actualy the only one who went through all the trouble and thus you have created/found the original.
we live in a world where mesmers and formchanger are common. a little transmogrifying to get a certain look does not seem out of this world.
I suppose that makes sense…I kinda figured it was like that, but I guess in a muliplayer video game, there are just some things that need to be taken from granted, and not really explained.
