was bored and started looking at story related articles of gw2 Season 1 and found this:

http://onceuponatimeintyria.blogspot.com/p/the-white-mantle-return.html

Long story short this article gives solid theories on why and how the white mantle returns, and imo they nailed it and t be fair it was written in 2014 so mistakes are acceptable.

HOWEVER an interesting thing the article mentions that was not touched anywhere could potentially be seen in S3: how stable is the ministry and politics in DR especially with Seraph’s leader “unstable” condition?

The Seraph’s leader is Queen Jennah, so how is she unstable? Or do you mean Logan as of HoT – but he’s just one of ~7 other equally ranked Captains.

Truth be told, the return of the White Mantle has been foreseeable since the initial release. It was always a matter of “when and what’s the exact circumstances” not “will it”.

I’ve noticed a handful of errors and assumptions (like the claim that the Ministry control the Seraph – this isn’t true. Only the Queen and the Captains control where the Seraph go), and any relation to O-Tron seems to be restricted primarily to just getting an excuse to push O-Tron towards Kiel and that final battle in LA (every platform had 2 NPCs – O-Tron and Kiel was the southern platform). Aside from those, though, it’s pretty much been how I’ve been seeing it too.

Maybe cuz I looked into it and connected the dots ages ago I began thinking other people did, so I always come out surprised when people think this is a huge reveal. ._.

Dear ANet writers,
Stop treating GW2 as a single story. Each Season and expansion should be their own story.

Sorry meant Logan then. To me Queen Jenah is the ruler of DR (DUH!), but the “leader” or more appropriately the commanding office is Logan (am I right on that one?)

the Ministry part yeah I agree, and to be completely honest the O-tron thing as much as I like the character is “weird” it’s implied the Seraph want to “take him/ arrest him” but Heal-o-tron tells Evon “The Seraph want to use me for an endless series of tasks” as a character who is defined by his job…isn’t doing tasks a good thing? BUT that’s a topic for another day XD Longstory short the mention of O-tron was to emphasize how weak/weird/shaddy the politics are getting (and now with Logan S3 might touch on that).

and yeah you my friend look like the type of guy who would know, but as someone who didn’t know a thing I found it interesting :p

Seriously I look at your posts and you know the stuff, Anet needs to hire you :p

Logan is merely a Captain of the Seraph. There are several Captains, each regulated to a different part of Kryta, and are all equal to each other in ranking file. The only individual higher than a Captain is Queen Jennah. The monarch of Kryta is the official leader of the Seraph (on top of the ruler of the nation of Kryta).

The highest rank in the Seraph is captain. At any given time, the queen has from five to ten captains in the Seraph; each operates independently, but in coordination, under her command.

Each Seraph captain is granted authority over a certain territory of Kryta — be it the embattled foothills of High Timber Claim or the lowlands of Nebo Terrace. The troops under their command report upwards to them, and they receive their orders directly from the queen. In recent days, Queen Jennah has been absorbed in her duties to Ebonhawke and the treaty being negotiated with the charr. Most of the command of the Seraph in Kryta has fallen on her closest captain, Logan Thackeray, whose immediate authority covers the city and environs of Divinity’s Reach. Now considered the first among equals, he organizes the body of Seraph response to overall threats against the nation.

Any treatment of Logan as “Commanding Officer” of the Seraph is fully unofficial, brought on by, as mentioned above, the Queen’s business, as well as his role in DR and his fame. As such, it probably is no longer the case as of him joining the Pact to fight the Elder Dragons (he can’t really manage the tasks typically held by the ruler when he’s not there himself).

Ok, then I meant the Captain of the Seraph (see? you know the stuff perfectly). I do hope that Anet touches upon such an important figure (at least for the Seraph/Quuen Jenah anyways) being unable to do anything (that is of course assuming this happens for players kittencued Zoijja OR to save “resources” both characters are severely injured no matter who you saved) and thus affect the main city in a major way, surely something big has to happen if the Captain of a royal organization is….out of commission I guess?

Not the captain but a captain. There are at least four others to fill Logan’s shoes (EDIT: We see 9 named captains other than Logan, though one we know dies in the PS; four are in Harathi Hinterlands one in Queensdale, one in Brisban Wildlands, one in Kessex Hills, and one in Gendarran Fields – so the ones in Harathi Hinterlands may have ended up going to DR with Logan’s absence – we also see three nameless captains (1 in Queensdale, 2 in Harathi Hinterlands), oddly making the total number of captains 13 – most likely an oversight, but one could be post-Trevelan’s death since that was in a chapter 1 PS mission). And he had such a common (ultimately) role that he could be replaced via promotion.

Politically, Logan was little more than a figurehead in the long run. People in his position likely get replaced all the time. Especially given that it’s a militant position (thus very little actual political clout to it).

That said, ArenaNet should (and claims they will) go over the effects of being in a mordrem pod with Logan and Zojja.
