I’ve been wondering a lot bout how the water in the world flows. Though many times it seems that water flows from the seas north of divinity’s reach to the sea of sorrow’s. This would mean all water in those rivers should be salted water and not drinkable. This isn’t true. Besides that, the sea to the north doesn’t let water flow inlad, cause the connection is clearly a delta (to the west of divinit’s).

So i have been studying it more. It seems that there are some mystical springs between maps.

Lets first of all look at the waterflow round Fort Salma in Kessex Hills. At the fort from two waterfalls the water enters from the edge of the map (so from the water near Claypool) into the map. very soon it splits. One stream goes south and into Viathan lake, the other goes west and north to the pastel drawing that leads to the big delta.

So it looks like the source is the water near Claypool. But!! that water goes into that lake by a waterfall that seems to come from Fort Salma. So to me there must be a huge spring on the mapborder between Queensdale and Kessex hills…..

Anyone has a lorewise explanation to this, Any other strange waterflows (besides that allmost all water seems to end in swamps).

The river in Kessex Hills is actually coming from north of Brisban – it goes west of Fort Salma. It leads to what was, in GW1, Majesty’s Rest. Most likely, that’s the source of those two rivers – though where it comes from from there idk.

And yes, the bodies of water surrounding Divinity’s Reach is salt water. In GW1, that was the Greater Giant’s Basin (what’s now Lake Gendarr and Guardian Lake in Gendarran Fields and Harathi Hinterlands respectively was the Lesser Giant’s Basin – the tidal wave from Zhaitan’s rise seems to have revealed/enlarged islands there); in GW1, it was stated that Giant’s Basin is an inland body of salt water. But back then water didn’t flow from either.

This is probably why the former Greater Giant’s Basin is kitten off, though the Lesser Giant’s Basin seems to have become fresh water (then again, it may always have been as GW1 often referred to both as a single body of water despite being two separate entities).

I have to disagree with youbout the water comming from north brisbane. I surprised me as well cause that what I thoguht to take a look. I’ve too that portion of the kessex map and draw in the the direction the streams go. But please feel free to check for yourself.

As for the bassin’s. Yeah, I know how it was in GW1. Those are the waters surrounding divinity’s reach. Im talking bout the delta to the north of it. Looking at global map it shows that that is prolly a sea in wich the great bassing flows with a delta (that delta always have been there btw). Besides that I don’t know if tidal waves and floods had much effect there. Otherwise the delta prolly had been destroyed.

It seems like the waters come from the same place the Clayent Falls in Queensdale come from, looking at that map.

If you look at the unexplored world map, the river north from Viathan Lake is one leading to Majesty’s Rest, flowing right by Fort Salma. I looked in game and it seems that it splits from NW of Fort Salma from a waterfall, one side going to Viathan Lake the other heading towards Brisban Wildlands. While the Majesty’s Rest river just “ends” since the river stops lining up with the unfogged version near Fort Salma.

My guess is one of two things:

1) Anet messed up.

2) The Majesty’s Rest river flows between Queensdale and Kessex Hills, leading both into Clayent Falls and the river near Fort Salma. The unfogged map is just “off” (not uncommon) of its actual placement prior to passing Fort Salma,

It should also be noted that the Majesty’s Rest river has since merged with former Greater Giant’s Basin. Which is interesting to note and makes me curious if all those pipes and water works also come in with distillers to turn salt water into fresh water. Or if there’s some other quality that have either turned the former Greater Giant’s basin into fresh water or those rivers into such.

I’d presume the dams around Divinity’s Reach would, since Shaemoor rivers start from them, so there may be another kitten in that unexplored area since that should be part of the Krytan kingdom still.
