In gw2 wiki it says that the WM were sacrificing people on top of the bloodstone to keep the door of komalie closed. And now that the bloodstone has exploded..is the door going to open?

“During the events of Guild Wars, the White Mantle would use this location to sacrifice villagers at the behest of the mursaat in order to power the soul batteries keeping shut the Door of Komalie.”

The text above is taken from Bloodstone Fen’s wiki page.

I think after the Lich opened it and we defeated him and closed it, the entire volcano erupted. If the door is still there, it is likely buried or underwater due to the Movements of the World since GW1.

Im sure a lore expert will give a better or more accurate reply though, since much of gw1 story is a blur to me now.

There’s several levels to this:

First, the bloodstone that exploded is not the one that sealed the Door of Komalie. The Mursaat had means of transferring the souls killed on the Bloodstone to the Door of Komalie, but the destruction of the Maguuma bloodstone would not necessarily affect the soul batteries on the Door of Komalie.

Second, part of the reason why we had to kill the Lich Lord on the Bloodstone is that doing so pulls his soul into the batteries. His soul was much more powerful than that of a random Chosen, and thus the result was that the Door was closed for the foreseeable future.

Then, as Randulf stated, the volcano erupted – although the exact effect of this on the Door was left unclear.

Perhaps the most significant point for this thread, however, is that in the ‘epilogue’ sequence in Nightfall, we get to the other side of the Door of Komalie – the Foundry of Failed Creations in the Domain of Anguish – and clear it out. The Door of Komalie was, basically, another weak spot between Tyria and the Realm of Torment, and the titans were, essentially, Abaddon’s advance troops. As long as Kormir maintains control over the Realm of Torment (and doesn’t go evil like Balthazar might have done), then, the threat of the Door of Komalie opening is somewhat defused – there’s no longer a horde of demons on the other side waiting for the opportunity to invade.

Given that the gods seem to have come back into the spotlight, it’s possible that we’ll see a return to the Door at some stage in the future, possibly for the reverse action: instead of demons invading Tyria from the Realm of Torment, it might be Tyrians pushing through seeking to get answers out of Kormir.

One thing that is not mentioned by draxynnic is that based on dialogue we know that the Door of Komalie remained closed for 3 years, even though Khilbron’s soul was now in the Realm of Torment. Whether this means the magical seal was kept, or the volcano covered and prevented access, is unclear.

And a comment to prevent potential confusion: the titans are Dhuum’s merely lent to Abaddon to serve as advance troops, rather than being Abaddon’s advance troops.

Also, there’s been no known case of soul batteries being used to keep the Door of Komalie sealed / in the White Mantle’s sacrifices, so they’ve probably not touched it for the past 250 years.

Dear ANet writers,
Stop treating GW2 as a single story. Each Season and expansion should be their own story.

Eh, the Fury was in charge of their creation, but I don’t think there’s any evidence that the titans were Dhuum’s once created. The impression I always had was that their creation was more of a collaboration, but once created they belonged to Abaddon.

Certainly, though, their purpose has been as part of Abaddon’s advance wave, even if they are technically allied troops – they were among the first to get into Tyria and start influencing events, and they would have been Khilbron’s shock troops with which to conquer Tyria if the Door of Komalie hadn’t been slammed shut again. It’s possible that if the Door had remained open, other demons would follow.

Aurus Trevess tells us that the follower*s* of Dhuum gathered at the Foundry of Failed Creations under the Fury’s demands. Within, there are only Margonites, titans, and only a couple Dream Riders/Dryders alongside the Fury. That’s rather insignificant amount of “followers of Dhuum” beneath the Fury (literally four, if memory serves me right) if it does not include the titans.

The Fury is also the one and only individual ever attributed with creating titans – if the titans were followers of Abaddon, then we’d likely be also seeing some Margonites creating them elsewhere.

I remember there being a lot of dryders and riders in the initial four rooms you have to fight through.

Like I said, the Fury was clearly involved in making them. This does not mean, however, that Dhuum necessarily retained control over them.
