2 Portals in Brisban (maybe 3?)
Even if you could get to these portals they wouldn’t take you anywhere. If the zones were already in game we would know and they would have been discovered inside the .dat file. At the moment they are placeholders, you would just walk into it and have nothing happen – except you wouldn’t be able to walk into it because they wouldn’t have put the pathing in place for that.
Maybe it will appear in Aurora’s Remains (north or south of this area?).
could be that (considering) mordremoth has just awoken, its planty/earth powers cause the fines to go into overgrowth mode and spread out ? (essentially its version of corruption ? judging by the purple spooky glow and all)

I think that’s entirely possible. So perhaps when the update is released the appearance of an existing portal will change, a new portal will open up – or that will be a portal within a new zone that we don’t have access to yet.

I was thinking this also because of the heavy vines etc in the area. I ready for more teasers! :-)
Not So Epic [HAL]
I was looking at the bandit bridge last night and I’ve got to say I’ve never noticed it before. Has it always been there?
Also, in the south/southwest portion of the zone, there is a rather significant pocket of chaos magic that will be familiar to anyone who’s visited the Thaumanova reactor…flickering lightning, various critters being ported in and out, etc. I know we have that pesky Inquest nearby messing about in the swamp but again, this is something I failed to noticed before.
Old news, or new development?

Realize that the portal shown in the teaser may be the OTHER SIDE of the portal so we’ll never find one that matches something on this side that we can see.
The portal you see in the teaser poster is the one on the other side of the broken bridge. I bet you that the awakening of Mordy has brought life to the wastes and that is why you see nightmare looking vines around the portal( but obviously wont be there till after patch).
Or the portal in the pic could be the portal when heading back to brisban. Just a thought. What’s to say its from a zone we already have?
|Seasonic S12G 650W|Win10 Pro X64| Corsair Spec 03 Case|
but if its a pic of the portal back into Brisban, why would it match the rock formations perfectly, and also, what kind of tease is that? They are teasing the new zone, not Brisban Wild lands. Plus those vines would show up on the other side anyway,
Maybe is the portal to the new zone in Rata Sum instead of Brisban.
or on both maps
Maybe…put on your tinfoil hats for this…its just a random picture of a portal with a jungle theme. The path we see in the portal doesn’t actually lead anywhere, and the vines…they are just vines.
Seriously though. There are a couple of portals within the Brisban Wildlands and there is no reason for them not to be used, as we are almost certain thats where we are going to go next.
It’s the chain I beat you with until you

there is no reason for them not to be used
There are an absolute crapload of portals, all over a lot of the maps, that have been there since launch, and have never been used.
I wouldn’t put it past Anet to actually not use the ones we have and just hamfist a new one in somewhere…

Well yeah. It makes sense to have a portal already in place to a future new zone. Just slap a map at the other end of it, and BAM! you’re ready to roll. Otherwise you’d have to redesign the area around the portal to put one in when needed. So why not just have pre made portals everywhere?
I suppose Anet COULD just “hamfist” them in, but if they already have them it would be incrediably stupid NOT to use it.

On the other hand, redesigning is just what they do, every single day. That’s the point of the “iterative process” that Arenanet employs. It’s not “incredibly stupid” it’s just a little waste of time, which everyone does once in awhile.
You just… gotta remember something, that literally hundreds of people worked on creating this game. Just because one employee was told to create a portal on the edge of some map doesn’t mean they ever intended to use that portal. But in this case…..
A line of champion bandits that are level 80 guard the walls of a “fort” that has a back door, and yet has it’s back turned toward an inaccessible area. As far as we can tell right now, the fort including those bandits existed as early as January of last year (http://wiki.guildwars2.com/index.php?title=Fort_Vandal&oldid=488099), not necessarily (but probably) since launch, but with no explanation why level 80’s would be in a level 23 zone.
The best question right now is simply…. why are they there, when they could just as easily not have had guards, or a fort, but instead just a bunch of bandits and a blank cliff-face? (The answer is probably simpler than we know, and it’s probably got something to do with the nearby renown heart existing at all)
That said, here’s the real kicker……
The ley line ran through Metrica Province (through Thaumanova), significantly south of Brisban. :p …start looking there.

You completely missed the point of the post then, because so far, that is exactly what they have been doing.
Mind you, there have only added 2 zones so far (1 temporary)
But instead of them being linked in any meaningful way, you just take a magical boat ride there instead.
the Zephyr Sanctum is due east of Mount Maelstrom (and not that far from the jumping puzzle on the eastern border of the zone)
Southsun Cove is practically touching Caledon forest, and nearly on the other side, with Sparkfly Fen.
Which brings me to an example, there is a path, blocked by a bolder, in Sparkfly Fen, that would in theory, lead directly to Southsun….but it was never used. This leaves an option to later on add a zone between Sparkfly and Southsun…but currently makes no sense why it hasn’t been used thus far.

I am glad they finally teased us with an image of a portal though, which means there is a high probability it won’t be some magic boat/airship ride to the new areas. (yay)
It will just be the first time they have actually done it since launch…

The pocket of Chaos Magic, bandit fort, and the bridge to nowhere have been in-game since beta as have all portals that lead to nowhere that can be found in the game everywhere. Why they haven’t used the ones nearest to Southsun, I have no idea as there is only 3/4 to less than half a zone width worth of space between the useable areas of both adjacent zones.
Anyway, I put my money on the bandit bridge to nowhere – I haven’t been able to break into that part of the zone yet so no screenshots of it from me.

It is easy to get near the portal across the bridge, but they have some tricky invisible walls that get you stuck when you are a few feet away.
