4 Pirate Gauntlet for Thieves
Oh, don’t worry. I can’t beat them with an Elementalist either. I’ve died I don’t know how many times, only killing one, perhaps two of the pirates before dying. The frustration of being a squishy class that’s forced to fight 4 mobs at the same time in a confined area is enough to make stop attempting the gauntlet altogether.
That, coupled with the fact that there are no freakin’ waypoints/respawn areas on the top ring, making you walk all the way back, and I just said screw it and quit.
As a full berserker mantra mesmer I did that – first attempt. I guess you need to make your strong side even stronger and just burst the hell out of them. (don’t forget the consumables, I started to eat when fights became hard – and it matters a lot)
And my clones/phantasms are not a “meat shield” since these champions tend to leave them alone and all of them were on me.
Well.. I did with elementalist. Its one of the easiest bosses, I don’t hink its too hard to any classes. What you need to do is try to hit as many as possible at same time (Aoe). They don’t haven either too high life or too high power attack..
Go sword/pistol. Use a high initative build, because you will be spamming pistol 5 to maintain 100% blind uptime. Target the ranged pirate first. After that it is not terribly difficult because all the other pirates will be forced to engage you within your blind fields..

What? I’m full Cleric non Berserker Guardian and I did it with the first try without any guides.
Side question: Is the unlocked fights character, or account based? Can you just switch to a different character/class for that fight and then go back to using the normal one?
Please give us a keyring…
I did it on a zerker thief with 13k HP on the first try
My weapon sets were s/p and sb.
Withdrawl, Caltrops, Tripwire, Assassin’s Signet, Basilisk Venom
What I did:
Kite the two melee around. Caltrops first, then tripwire when their cripple wears off and they get to close. I moved backwards, using dodge to avoid projectiles and SB 3 to hop out of the cannon AOE, while killing Stitches to get rid of enemy healing/regen.
Then I killed Captain, because it was the order Dulfy used, so why not? Next was cannon guy and finally first mate.
Projectile damage is pretty negligible. The cannon AoE is really easy to avoid without using up endurance. You can worry about it even less if you get health regen food. The melee can be rough but trip wire and caltrops keep them pretty much in check and you may as well use venom off the break to give you a few seconds so it can recharge and be used again before the end of the fight.
No reason to switch from SB. No reason to stop moving. Unless you want to pistol whip the first mate to death to speed things up.
Another thief that was having trouble with this fight watched me do it and beat it immediately after doing the same thing. I’m not sure what his armor or health was though.

I don’t know if I am too late on the discussion but I also managed to do it on my thief using a p/p zerker armor with beryl jewels on it, beryl accessories and 0/30/0/20/15 traits. Thieves Guild also helped a lot if I remember correctly. Also I had a lot of sustain (Healing Signet, sigil of blood on one pistol and food which steals life on critical).

Use an arena with people spectating. We do rez you. Or keep using empty ones so you don’t have to wait a whole 2 minutes like in other threads ppl are qq about and run back. Not saying you’re one of them, just saying. Follow the balloon. Well, if you’re on GoM anyway.
