What must the living story Season 2 have/do right/be like
that you would play it and accept it as a replacement for expansions.

My top 3:
- new Maps
- less zerging content, actual fun gameplay that needs skill and a 5 man group
(example: the bossfight of the molten alliance facility)
- Serious fixes for all those bugs in the bugforum that are there since launch

Pls stay on topic

1) better written story. To execute a plot in MMO setting is tricky as this platform is completely new. Bottom line is not to drag for too long because player energy will dissipate and lose interest. Deliver a punch at appropriate time. The failure of Scarlet was dragging for tooooo long, leaving everyone clueless.
2) avoid laundry list of achievement to tell player what to do. It feels unnatural and robotic. I have enough at work, please make the game fun to play.
3) reduce zerg fest type of activities.

1)new regions or maps
2)a reason to play it besides achievements
3)clear cut goals overall that we are trying to achievements not just achievements. next arc could to be to kill a dragon with us going through areas we must explore before we get there and minor things(centuar/human peace treaty for example) which have consequences(the centuar/human peace treaty if we fail the first time we must find a new way to go about it) that we must accomplish before we get to the main thing(dragon)

1: Better writing (For overall story and characters)

2: More maps (Do not waste time ruining perfectly nice looking zones, make new ones)

3: Less temporary (Introduce more content that I can play in my own time, not a schedule.)

We have an elder dragon coming and I am not excited about it at all, mainly because from what I have experienced of season one. I am expecting disappointment after disappointment with a handful of fun highlights. The best bits of Season one were the more standalone parts, stop trying to connect everything with ridiculously convoluted lore breaking storylines.

1.- Make it doable on a 5-man party, or solo.

Less zerg. Less lag. Less omg-I-need-a-whole-server content. I don’t have anything against a zerg now and then, but being incapable of ending my LS because everybody else on server already did it, stinks.

2.- Make the story coherent and brilliant.

You have a lot of excellent writers. And you can even ask for help to us, the community. I am sure that a lot of players had good plot-viable ideas to this game. Ask us, use our ideas, and give us a better game.

I don’t want to read Dulfy to know what I have to do. I don’t want to open my achievement tab to know what to do. I want the story to be story-driven. Give me information, and a good story, so that I can choose what to do. Let us know what we should do, by telling us why we should do it.

3.- Make my char feel like a hero.

I don’t want the villain to escape and escape and escape, no matter what. I don’t want the villain to be killed easily, or using a cannon. I want to sweat my fight, and in the end, I want it to matter, somehow. I want that the story of the LS make me say “woa!!!” over and over.

2. Delay Scarlet’s return as maximum as possible.

3. When She returns, put Scarlet in a lesbian relationship.

1.) a story to enjoy regardless with how many players you’re with, the current ones are way to much made for huge groups, i would like a story that even a solo player can do.

2.) new areas to explore, the crystal desert would be the perfect place to expand in, it’s both known to GW veterans and the bazaar already gave quite some lore to play around and speculate with.

3.) better use of resources, less making the same mistakes…….i have said enough about this…

hard to top what’s already been said but here’s mine

1) Server Progress rewards for LS: Your Server needs to do a broad range of things to complete the LS as a whole, you’ll have your personal reward for doing achievements, then you’ll have a Server reward, in which, if your server completes the LS Achievements, and if you had a help in that, you’ll get another reward.

so its not how its now, where you are “Ok, did the Meta achievements, back to Champ farming or WvW..”

2) Profession Improvements: Profession should be expanded upon, more Weapon choices, direct control on how to improve their Profession specific Mechanic, separating the Stats gain, Trait bonus and Weapon bonus from Trait lines, and create Trait lines for each of the 3.

3)functional equipment: special Tier of equipment(NOT FOR STATS GAIN, no different than other tiers can range from common to ascended)Equipment that will allow you to use various ability to overcome different types of Obstacles. making fun ways to travel to certain areas.

an example of functional equipment:
Common: Rock climbing gloves and Hook Rope: gloves- allows you to climb up mountain sides. Hook Rope- laches on certain surfaces to swing your way across

Rare: Wings(Holo Shatter or Teq’s for example) allows you to Glide down slower resulting in less fall dmg.

When GW2 was introduced Anet said they Didn’t want to make the same game everyone else was making, they wanted to be new, dynamic and different. While GW2 is still one of the better games out there, I feel it has become a Dull Knife, and needs Sharpening to keep players on. Still like it, but some improvements would be nice.

1) more “failure” conditions for world bosses, enough with the sodding timers
2) less zerg content: if zerg content force the zerg to split like the marrionette did and the evacuation of LA “partially” did
3) content that refrences your progress in your personal story (i loved this during the nightmare chambers during the tower of nightmare arc)

BONUS WANTS
-new maps (pve, wvw and spvp)
- Permanent SAB
-permanent dungeons instead of temp dungeons
- ability to continue getting special living story stuff (recipies, crafting mats (seriously add azurite drops to all mithril and ori, not just in the fractal: also adfd back the toxic spore nodes that dont have to make me do a group event to get 1 spore)) excluding weapon and armor skins
-better meta achieve reward as well as a vendor in the home instance that lets you get more living story skins from achievements that you have completed (for example, be able to get multible scarlet veil skins only if you completed the achievement it was attached to): as for the better rewards, recent LS rewards have been kinda….. lame (keep it skins, gathering nodes (these imo are best), and maybe tonics: not a chest containig some mats and less then exotic items)
-no election based content, just give us the content

@DarcShriek

While I agree there is a problem with Leechers for events, for example afker’s during Escape from LA, in which they did nothing and yet got the 1200 citizen saved chest.

That’s why I mention:
" if your server completes the LS Achievements, and if you had a help in that, you’ll get another reward."

helping out could be anything from defeating Waves to monsters, Helping out NPC in a specfic way, (find Account bound Items, use the Mystic Forge, and give NPC the final Item) doing a Raid type content, or any number of multiple ways that you could be helping out actively.

Leechers suck, but denying better content ( this or any other suggested improvement) just cause there are Lecchers or exploiters hurts the game more. Solution? Make it in a way that they cant Leech, Exploit.

Not trolling. I loved the Marionette fight, but it broke my heart and will to play GW2. The content was amazing and unfailably easy, but counldn’t find a server that could win the fight after day 3. It made me realize how terribly unskilled the GW2 open world PvE community is and how their can never again be challenging content for this game because the majority of players can’t remember to press the dodge key.

1) Longer time limits (1 month minimum)
2) Less grinding
3) Less bugs

That would be the bare minimum… But there are plenty of other things that the Living Story should ideally have, such as:

4) A plot that actually makes sense
5) No time-gating
6) More content that is friendly to small guilds and solo players
7) Affordable items in the gem shop
8) More permanent items in the gem shop
9) Desirable items in the gem shop (enough with the gloves and pauldrons already)
10) More ways that the players can influence the story (Cutthroat Politics was a good idea but didn’t go far enough; if you really want the story to feel “Living” then make it less linear)

And many more.

To be honest, the Living Story is just rife with problems and needs to be scrapped. What we need is more development for sPVP, WvW, Dungeons, PVE, along with new skills, races, classes, zones, and bug fixing… Y’know. The stuff that matters.

I know it is a form of heresy on these forums not to rail against Anet as all that is wrong in the MMO universe, but I enjoyed most of the Living Story. Because of it I played GW2 more, not less. I really liked the Marionette, though I do get why some people were unhappy with the group based rewards. I was in a lot of failing marionettes, but it was still very fun.

My top three points for LS season 2 would be:
1) More interesting items to get for the meta achievements – the Candy Corn node is interesting, a pack of 50 or 100 grab bags is not.
2) Don’t stick with one type of update – alternate between big group events, 5 person events, personal stuff, etc. The later chapters seem more focused on big group actions and while I like those, I’d like more personalized stuff as well.
3) Bring in more of the existing world – it would have been cool to see the Pact get involved in Lion’s Arch, etc.

Because most people do not like strangers dictating what kind of reward they get, regardless of personal performance.

I liked the Marionette but I am not a fan of how we relied on others to get a reward, especially when it took only a handful of people to make it so everyone failed.

1) New regions. But semantics are important here. I don’t mean a “new zone” like they meant with the Tower of Nightmares or Zephyrite Sanctum. I’d like actual fleshed-out open world maps with hearts, vistas, POIs and Dynamic Events, that advance the overall GW2 story and are tied with the lore. Permanent.

2) New Dungeons in those new areas, that again advance the story, give us reasons for exploring etc. It’s something that this game needs to stay fresh. And with the dungeons, ofc, more tokens for new armor sets. Not just a RNG backpiece – whole armorsets that don’t come only through the gem store.

3) Serious revamp of the overflow system for existing and upcoming megabosses. Tequatl and Wurm are super fun, they require organisation, communication and thinking, and are imo some of the best content delivered by Anet. Were they delivered well? No! What makes them hard is not strategy, it’s pure poorly thought out game mechanics with the overflows. Since these events are not something you just stumble upon, they pretty much are a raid. So to prevent getting stressed out over AFKers and trolls (and people with poor builds who don’t care), or constant fear of DC which is a gamebreaker or the boring long waiting time, these fights will have to be instanced or we should be given a choice of overflows.
Also, separating guilds and parties with the big “open world” events, like LA, is never a good thing – players want to play with their friends.

1. New campaign (includes race, class, regions, maps, story)
2. Permanent content
3. Right now a lot of content is built around the gem store. Just look up the ‘news’ in GW2 right at this moment: 4 of the 8 ‘news’ is about stuff in gem store. This is embarassing! A lot of quality of life and other content is locked behind gem store (like permanten harvesting tools, skins etc.). Instead of introducing FINALLY a new fun dungeon as all of us expected with new skins etc. 90% of the introduced stuff is just in the gem store. It is even worse: most of those skins are locked behind a money-making RNG mechanic. I understand that they have to make some additional money, but this is just out of control and should be reviewed.

3.New Maps – i think this is established as we are going to a certain forest in this LS hopefully

2. Profession bug fixes: There a lot of bugs just in the profession. Before trying to keep balancing with numbers and reworks, bug fixes should be made, specially the annoying ones.

3. Improve story telling: Most of the problems with the LS could have been avoid with a better way of telling the story. Scarlet was a great villain but the way she was presented to us was crude.
