So, there’s all these posts or threads about why, she’s offensive to handicapped, why she doesn’t represent the handicapped enough, why she’s whiny and blah blah blahbbbgheerk…

Jokes on you chumps!! Funfact; I only know she’s disabled because I read it on here, from you people kittening about it. Is that Irony or what?!!!! Taimi is the ONLY LS character I enjoy, and it never occurred to me, but I prolly am unawares because I came mid S1 and missed the finish.

Anyway, now I know.
And I enjoy the character even more(I understand the leg-pain reference and know it’s not about fighting Scarlett, which I missed at LA). I’m not armchair activist cheering Anet of their daring and refreshing stance to add a disabled person to represent blah blah bu-blah… Because I have my own life. I like how, yes, despite the BONUS of talking about these things, we just have a disabled character, it’s interesting in the way that it’s not so generic in the video-game world.

Also I didn’t know she was a kid.

When I was reading the speechbubbles after the battle of LA, I was all “Taimi and the Norn are gonna do it!” …not so much.

This all reminds me of that South Park episode with the dodgeball and the freak nurse.

I remember reading a post a while back from someone who has MS who loves Taimi because she feels like she’s represented in game.

I don’t have to deal with anything like that myself, but I don’t see Taimi as offensive. If it’s the way she limps that people don’t like, that’s just because ANet used the same injured stagger they use on anyone. Our own characters do it. I think they should create a walk specifically for her, but by not using the generic thing that’s already in game, they’ll just make more people mad because it was too much, not correct, whatever.

I like Taimi. I think she’s cool. I like most Asuran kids because they’re smart and witty but not completely full of themselves yet like many of the adults are. She’s nice, she’s helpful, she’s a genius (obviously). I think her Scarlet obsession will get her in trouble that may cost her life or her morals, but I think she’s one of the best NPCs they’ve added to the story in a long time.
