I know that the vast majority of the forum posters tend to think that we’re going to see Mordremoth in the next season. I am not disputing the very good possibility of that being exactly what we will do.

BUT>>>>>

I hung out in Scarlet’s control room after we killed her and I noticed something that I am sure everyone else saw, but it struck me as odd.

To the right as you step over Scarlet’s body, is the map we’ve all seen of Tyria with the thumper locations clearly marked.

To the left is another map, but it’s not of the Jungle, where I would assume she would have been focusing her attention if she were trying to wake/defeat/irritate Mordy. No, my friends, the map to the left is none other than the Far Shiverpeaks with Drakkar Lake clearly at the center. (The attached picture isn’t very clear, but it’s all I got.)

Those of us who played GW1 wit hthe EOTN expansion know that there is a dragon lieutenant at that was frozen in the lake. His/her name was Drakkar, hence the naming of the lake. He is a lieutenant of Jormag.

However, the final battle of GW1 (A Time For Heores) we are still “under” the Far Shiverpeaks, fighting the Great Destroyer. In the second picture, you can clearly see Primordus in his slumber. (sorry it’s so small…)

So, my theory is this: Since power can travel so quickly, it may not be Mordy we see in the final cutscene. It may be Primordus. Not only that, instead of getting a Jungle to explore, it might be the Far Shiverpeaks, with another Lieutenant to fight (a la Teq.) All of this ties in to Scarlet possibly being deliberate when she awakens Mordy, in order to “use” him to fight the new threats in the North. Kind of an “Enemy of My Enemy is My Friend” sort of situation.

Yes, my theory may be 180 degrees out from everyone elses, but I find it odd that she would have a picture of the far shiverpeaks instead of the Jungle if she were trying to wake Mordremoth.

Thanks for listening to a crazy old lady

It could also simply be that game objects already made were reused to create the control room.

If you can read this then it is proof that ArenaNet’s moderators just, kind and fair.

Primordus is already awake; he awoke at the very end of EoTN. He’s down in the Depths clearing space; the dragon we see is in the jungle and doesn’t awaken until the magic gets to him.

Leylines travel in straight lines (they snake back and forth at the ground level but the big picture is a line.) If you trace a line from the Breachmaker to Thaumanova and keep going, you end up in Magus Falls in Maguuma. In order for your theory to be correct, the energy would have traveled in the exact opposite direction. Instead it clearly moves from LA to Thaumanova, through a dry zone and into a dark jungle.

It’s Mordremoth. That picture is probably just to show how far Scarlet was looking with her probes; remember that she was not looking for the dragon itself but instead for a leyline hub that connected to the dragon. You’re giving too much importance to a picture I think.

I don’t disagree with you, but I do think that as I said, maybe Mordy isn’t the only one we’re going to be dealing with. I do believe that Scarlet’s mahem isn’t limited to one linear direction.

I imagine the energy in ley lines somewhat like spokes in a wheel. Yes, it moves in a straight line, but if something happens at a nexus, the energy goes more than one direction, fanning away from an epicenter much like an earthquake rather than a cone. So, even though they show one direction, it is entirely possible that the energy goes the other way as well. If you take the same objectiveness and move it the other direction, you get the Far Shiverpeaks as well, along with places like The Crystal Desert.

It’s Mordremoth. That picture is probably just to show how far Scarlet was looking with her probes; remember that she was not looking for the dragon itself but instead for a leyline hub that connected to the dragon. You’re giving too much importance to a picture I think.

If I am giving too much importance to a picture, then so is everyone else, as the first inkling we had of another dragon was a picture.

I do see what you’re saying, and I may be way off, but it just seems to me to be too cut and dry. Waking Mordremoth, I think, is a side effect of whatever it was she was doing. There’s just got to be more to it than that.

I think it’s clear from the final scene and other evidence that is is Mordremoth who woke up. I also think you are right in thinking there are other consequences to disturbing the ley lines. We have no way of knowing what those consequences might be until they are presented in the story. Mordremoth could just be a big tease, after all we have yet to fight Jormag. After all the talk about his tooth while playing as a Norn, I was sure the story would lead me that way. We could get something entirely different for LS season 2, with the threat of Mordremoth still lingering over our heads. As you say though, the ley lines travel all over Tyria, so they have opened up the possibility adding many enemies, villains, and areas because of it.
