An Alternate Theory *Possible Spoilers*
It could also simply be that game objects already made were reused to create the control room.
Primordus is already awake; he awoke at the very end of EoTN. He’s down in the Depths clearing space; the dragon we see is in the jungle and doesn’t awaken until the magic gets to him.
Leylines travel in straight lines (they snake back and forth at the ground level but the big picture is a line.) If you trace a line from the Breachmaker to Thaumanova and keep going, you end up in Magus Falls in Maguuma. In order for your theory to be correct, the energy would have traveled in the exact opposite direction. Instead it clearly moves from LA to Thaumanova, through a dry zone and into a dark jungle.
It’s Mordremoth. That picture is probably just to show how far Scarlet was looking with her probes; remember that she was not looking for the dragon itself but instead for a leyline hub that connected to the dragon. You’re giving too much importance to a picture I think.

I don’t disagree with you, but I do think that as I said, maybe Mordy isn’t the only one we’re going to be dealing with. I do believe that Scarlet’s mahem isn’t limited to one linear direction.

I imagine the energy in ley lines somewhat like spokes in a wheel. Yes, it moves in a straight line, but if something happens at a nexus, the energy goes more than one direction, fanning away from an epicenter much like an earthquake rather than a cone. So, even though they show one direction, it is entirely possible that the energy goes the other way as well. If you take the same objectiveness and move it the other direction, you get the Far Shiverpeaks as well, along with places like The Crystal Desert.

If I am giving too much importance to a picture, then so is everyone else, as the first inkling we had of another dragon was a picture.
I do see what you’re saying, and I may be way off, but it just seems to me to be too cut and dry. Waking Mordremoth, I think, is a side effect of whatever it was she was doing. There’s just got to be more to it than that.
I think it’s clear from the final scene and other evidence that is is Mordremoth who woke up. I also think you are right in thinking there are other consequences to disturbing the ley lines. We have no way of knowing what those consequences might be until they are presented in the story. Mordremoth could just be a big tease, after all we have yet to fight Jormag. After all the talk about his tooth while playing as a Norn, I was sure the story would lead me that way. We could get something entirely different for LS season 2, with the threat of Mordremoth still lingering over our heads. As you say though, the ley lines travel all over Tyria, so they have opened up the possibility adding many enemies, villains, and areas because of it.
I’m sure we will get some answers on Tuesday (night for Europeans)
