So, we all know that Season 1 isn’t like Season 2, and it’s a lot harder to have players who missed out on Season 1 to go back and re-do it… but something had me wondering…

Do the Asura mess with time-travel at all? I mean, we get ported in the Fractals to an ancient Ascalonian war, why can’t it happen with the Asurans?

Basically, my idea is that they can leave Season 1 as it is, but have it broken into bits of availability.

The Asurans create a device to allow you to travel back in time to relive Season 1. This device can only be ran using gold, karma, and/or WvW badges (if people really want to find a use for those outside WvW). When it’s powered up enough, the Asura NPC will activate the device and for 10 minutes, allow players to go through the portal and back to a Living Episode of Season 1.

I never got to experience Season 1, so forgive me when I suggest something like this as I don’t know how the battles went or were fought. Were the full map-sized battles? Because my suggestion is trying to funnel players through the device and back to a special map of Lion’s Arch of when Scarlet Attacked, etc.

It is not a matter of how to give access to it (it is quite easily explained by simply claiming you are experiencing things of the past).

The issue is that it was not in any way or form built with replaybility in mind, and the vast majority of it was in the open world and required groups of people. Sure, the system you suggest might work. IF enough people join every time you open the portal thingy.
If they do not on the other hand, it will be more or less impossible to do the stuff anyway.

It also goes against the whole thing about being able to complete story parts on your own if you want to.

There is also the matter of requiring multiple versions of the same map on the servers, which is currently not possible (as seen when doing the Personal Story parts in Lion’s Arch).

Much of it was massive open world content, full map battles, and bosses. In many cases, if you had less than a full map it was impossible to do. And this was in the days before megaserver, so people often had to guest to other places in order to do them.

If they did find a way to make it soloable/5 man party-able, all they need to do is throw it into the fractals of the mists. It’s easier to do time travel there, as it’s already been done, and the past is a part of the Mists already. It makes sense to use an already existing mechanic, then try to come up with a new way to traverse time that causes all sorts of strange things to happen.
