I think I figured what is happening in the living story.

Scarlet is the reincarnation of Abaddon. She knew that she was something special since she was awaken, but she saw all the truth during the experiment with Omadd.

Her goal is to find and reunite the 5 pieces of the bloodstone, and once again flood the world with magic. She has built the probe network to find the missing pieces (it is known where the 3 of them are). She found one of the pieces under Lion’s Arch, indicated by the green probe and that is why she wants to invade the city.

Now I explain why I believe this:

1. Back in July we had the option to vote for one of two new fractals. We did not meet Scarlet yet during that time. One option was the Thaumanova Reactor and the other the Fall of Abaddon fractal. My theory is that both of them were related to the living story. If we have chosen the Abaddon fractal, Arenanet would have shown as the fall of Abaddon, and something about him returning.

2. Ceara had nightmares about her past life long before she became Scarlet and realize who she really is.

3. Ceara changed physically Scarlet giggled as she raised her hand to her face and watched the red thorn vine chase itself between her fingers like Abaddon did according to this text:

“Prior to his fall, Abaddon was the chief deity of water and wisdom. It is said that while his heart was still just and fair, he was a handsome, calm figure with imposing blue eyes – deep, like the colors of the sea. His generosity was only matched by his namesake, the ocean, which was both his dominion and said to be the physical manifestation of his blue wings. Princely amongst the gods, he was recognized as being the wisest amidst the Six, and his insight was not only welcome, but was also the most highly valued when the gods held council.

Few would recognize Abaddon as he is now. His eyes – once as deeply bright as the seas – were replaced by sunken, abyssal shadows. His wings lost their lustre and became scythe-like, bloodied and battered. It is said that Abaddon’ s appearance is a direct representation of his heart. If that is true, then he must have fallen far."

4. Her voice is changing, she is changing to her true form.

5. The phrase “act with magic, act within reason, act without mercy” is attributed to Abaddon’ s teachings. It fits well for Scarlet too. Abaddon was good at corrupting people to fight for him, Scarlet does this also.

6. If Arenanet wanted just a mad villain Einstein, he should be an Asura. Scarlet is just to intelligent, to special to be a common Sylvari.

7. Arenanet told to us that our villains was someone we knew from the past.

8. The note at the end of this wiki page. “According to Jeff Grubb, the bloodstones’ fate will not be revealed in the initial release of Guild Wars 2, but may "have an influence in future expansions.”

9. Sylvari are, according to the lore, very resistant to the dragon’s corruption, so it could not be a dragon the thing that corrupted Scarlet.

While I don’t think she’s the reincarnation of Abaddon, I do think she may be trying to revive and restore his power using the Bloodstones. One can only speculate WHO Scarlet saw to motivate her towards these ends. It could have been Abaddon himself, a corrupted Kormir, Dhuum, Abaddon’s unnamed predecessor, etc. That kind of story arc would be worthy of a new expansion.

There’s no doubt in my mind that Scarlet is using her probes to research the ley lines in order to find the Bloodstones. I also believe they are an important focus of the Eternal Alchemy, potentially reinforcing Taimi’s research and role in things to come.

The Sylvari teaching “Act with wisdom, but act.” bears resemblance to “Act with magic, act within reason, act without mercy.” Which may explain why she and “certain other Sylvari” are more impressionable.

Going off the idea that Abaddon still has some kind of connected power with the Bloodstones through the Eternal Alchemy, one of them may be buried beneath or near the Pale tree. This could make him potentially responsible for the Nightmares within the Dream, as well as corrupting Scarlet and the Nightmare Court into a new army of Margonites. During Omadd’s experiment, I believe Scarlet revisited her nightmare, and her role in the events to come.

From the wiki:
“She saw Tyria and the Mists; she saw the insurmountable challenge of the future and her people’s part in it—the sylvari of the tree and the Nightmare Court, Caithe and Faolain—all part of a grand design. And for the first time in years, she heard the voice of the Pale Tree, begging her to go no further.”

Kanenas.4906 , I agree with you. I said this a few weeks ago in map chat that I think Abaddon has a play in it. Then people told me that I needed to go back to GW1 if i wanted to fight him since he is dead. He may be dead but I do not think you can kills a conciseness if I say. But I think that it is a jungle dragon who has taken a part of Abaddon in him. Even though they have been sleeping for 250 years, I think they have absorbed so much of the world around them from the time that they can tap into these past people. With them being magical, they where able to subconsciously, take hold of their powers minds and thoughts

I thought about the Bloodstones as well. Why she is wanting them. To awaken that dragon and to be come its commander though that of a conciseness of Abaddon.

The White Mantle.

If we look back on the War in Kryta after we beat the Confessor and the Jade, The Mantle split into two groups. One sought to hide out in the Maguuma Jungle and the other is know known as the Seraph.

With this I would like to think they will make a comeback with Scarlet. She sought them out in the depths of the Jungle after she started to hear these nightmares. She found them and told them what see was seeing and that is when she learned more of the Bloodstones and they together sought to seek them out. But making a deal with them that once she has them they can come back to Tyria.

Those are my thoughts. I am happy to know I’m not the only one who thinks this! ( I hope Anet opens more Jungle, I love it so much!
