Q:

I logged into a character who has a Tricolor Key that I had forgotten about. Is there any use for this now?

A:

The chest was removed with the origin of madness. So was Marjory’s assistant. No further use of tri-color keys at this time.

The chest for the Tricolor Key is still located by the tower’s wreckage. Mobs in the area still drop pieces of keys as loot and you can buy pieces from Marjory’s Assistant near the camp for Toxic Spores.

I’m guessing we were warned that this was happening somewhere?

Make a habit of using up all the drops just before the next update to living story. Safest way to play.

On the first day of Origins of Madness I was running to catch up with one of the escorts to a probe site. Suddenly and mysteriously I received all three pieces of the Tricolor Key, not being immediately near any action. I aseembled it and it only stated to search the wreckage of the tower.

I spent over an hour scouring. A few days late I returned to Kessex Hills and showed me where the chest “ought” to be. We tried offing some of the local veterans in case it was event bound. Nadda.

Now I read this thread and … I shouldn’t have even received the key pieces in the first place and there’s nothing to use it for? o_O
I suppose my tale has turned into a bug report, though I’m not exactly sure what the bug is.

I was wondering about that too. I was looking around for a dead Marjory’s Helper Dee, in case maybe (s)he got mauled by a stray bear or something. No person. I went to the chest site. No chest or chest marker.

= And we got no notice of this. =

So much for “permanent content,” ANet.

And I really liked that chest, too. It gave Dragonite, so I didn’t have to chase world boss timers around.

Many alts; handle it!

Really, with the new bosses in the area, other than more champ farms, what good are they? I would like to see maybe the chest being an added bonus when defeating the Toxic Alchemist, or even the sea witch.. It would be a way to encourage people to complete these events some more. Even though they won’t be getting keys unless in Kessex Hills anyways..

Yeah, I thought they were going to leave the chest, and have the three new Kessex mini-bosses occasionally drop the keys, one color assigned to each of them. That makes perfect sense to me anyway, no idea why they decided not to do that.
