The Living World started with the Shadow of the Mad King update so wouldn’t it be epic if Mad King Thorn turned out to be the real Personal Nemesis?

The Mad King didn’t go Unabomber on me.

It would be hard for Thorn to be the Personal Nemesis, when he can only leave the Mad King’s Realm once a year.

Mad King is just mad, not trying to take over the world…..

In my mind he is still the real father of Little Thom.

It’s always a nemesis plot.

The Mad King is Halloween. He’s only around for October and it should (and will) stay that way.

I cannot see Thorn as the personal nemesis. I hope Scarlet’s not it either but too much of the so-called “Living World” story has been focused on her, her actions, and the repercussions of her actions (aka everything since January has). I would hardly call Scarlet “personal” though – that’s just a bunch of baloney that Angel spouted to get us hyped up for the villain. Like the whole “when it’s done,” having a living, breathing world in the game, and making the lore’s story “wider, not deeper” – it is just another empty promise.

Scarlet’s not trying to take over the world either, which is probably her most interesting part as a villain.

Her goal is the same as the goal for many heroes in the more philosophical anime. To give people free will – separate people, especially the sylvari, from this thing called “the Eternal Alchemy” which deems the place of everyone in the world, from small to large.

But you wouldn’t really get that unless you read the short story not even hinted at in the game and/or dig for an interview ArenaNet never mentions.

Yeah that’s the one thing that bugs me about the LS: I really like the short stories, they’re some of the best written content A.net is making, but holy god why are you burying important bits of lore in interviews with German publications? I don’t care if it has to be a story on the website or an infodump NPC, but randomly dropping important plot points in interviews is very silly.

serious how many people dont care anymore scarlet doesnt impress me and yes i read all the interviews everyone talking about and actually ls didnt start til after wintersday might be tixx is the true villian. maybe he really helped her through those asuran academies or the things she did there. sad thing is i could go on and on and it would be a greater tale then anets handed to us so far in my opinion

I don’t care about scarlet, or reading anymore short stories on their website. I looked to see if scarlet had one. Seen a wall of text and closed the browser.

Umm… after playing sylvari start story twice, I always thougt why don’t see that leafy dragon anywhere else than the Dream. It’s only connection we have to Jungle dragon: http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Jungle_dragon Also on my ranger’s story I met this sylvari who was not from grove, and sadly, I haven’t seen him in story after that. After reading Scarlet Story, where she goes to see the pale tree in this machine and such and how she learns stuff about dragon energies from Inquest, and after this Nightmare court and Grove mumbo jumbo and such, and Faolain – Caithe stuff…

This could be a bit farfetched, But maybe Dream/Pale Tree/Grove is the thing that traps the Jungle dragon, Nigthmare court being actual servants of Jungle dragon itself. If nightmare actually comes from the dragon, and sylvari where awoken to guard that Jungle dragon stays trapped (which would explain their backstory, which is pretty lightly explained). That’s why you only see the wood-leafy-dragon thing in the Dream. But sylvari aren’t for what-ever-the-reason aware that the dream traps the dragon, thus they never mention that. All this Ventari’s tablet stuff is there to keep thing in control, thus sylvari is asigned to do this-and-that. But when you think about it, if nobody knows that Dream traps the dragon, nobody can actively try to free it?

So maybe, Scarlet now figured all this stuff out. And maybe she is now trying to get the Jungle dragon under her control? Maybe Tequatl getting stronger weas scarletts test if she could power up a dragon, so she could use that knowlidge to free tha Jungle dragon, so she could use it to whatever she wants to do with it. All this havoc she is causing is about she getting stuff she needs for her task.

Which might mean that we are getting new dragon to the game. Which would be kinda epic. And if it comes it might devour Scarlet in the process. I might actually enjoy that a bit.

But that’s just a silly theory among others.

I hope your wrong. If that is her motive, its incredibly boring. Snore…..
