So the conversation with Auris is odd – so I take it people are thinking either we travelled through time briefly when we travelled through the rifts or is he stuck or what?

Well, when we first meet him, he keeps chanting the number “97”, or so our character seems to think. Also, Auris’ title is something like “poorly anchored”. Now I had a hunch and checked what the level 97 fractal was – surprise surprise it’s Thaumanova. So I’m thinking maybe Auris was a part of an investigation into fractals and got into an accident in the Thaumanova one?

And otherwise, it seems that each time you do something and come back to him, he has a somewhat different recollection of events to you. At first when you hand him the ??? item he seems to examine it for a while and then presses a button to see what happens. But when you finally break the tier 1 stabilizer and come back to talk to him, he says he doesn’t know what a rift stabilizer is, but is familiar with the tech. This seems to be at odds with the initial interaction – why would he have to fiddle with the item if he were familiar with the tech?

We can speculate about being time displaced, but there is more obvious type of displacing there. General displace – thing supposed/used to be there aren’t present. Magic domains supposed to be on side of corresponding elder dragons aren’t now at its place supposed to be/used. Seeing Auris there can be something to hightlight displace theme.
About time – does it exist in Tyria? or its also only measure to decipt. Chronomancer using time theme have vibre of realising thoughts/imaginations making deception/illusion to make their wanted reality happen instead channeling some time-magic. More importantly magic seems like line connecting dots, so really does it have time? Even if all things are embodiedy of magic, that doesn’t mean that magic have time or there exist time-magic.
Looking forward what course devs choose to describe it, if they intend to describe it at all.

I understand mem but his conversation seems to indicate that the final part of our conversation is before out first part but I do admit I never thought of it as another form of displacement.
To be honest I am not sure if there is a time element in the world’s magic though there are a few times where we have been able to view past events.
As to the number 97 Olterin – there were others thinking the same thing in the map I was in. Permutations of 2 13’s make this beyond 97 but maybe (and I am being very simple here) that its just 9 and 7?

I haven’t quite “finished” the plot with Auris, but I’m pretty sure he’s the one going wibbly-wobbly through time. It’s entirely possible that we, the PC, are unstuck from time, but he remembers us coming to him and explaining what the device does after a point where he fiddles and fools with the thing.

Plus, from a game narrative standpoint, it’s easier for an NPC to be unstuck from time than to somehow have every PC get unstuck in the exact same way.
