Best part of LS is the preview

If it’s taking you a week to download the latest living story patch, perhaps it’s time to replace that ol’ 56k modem.
I do agree that new content every two weeks is a bit much. Also, SAB is solo content, as was the gauntlet. You could just as well skip step two and try the content without reading a guide first.

As far as the week to download, while it may be a bit of an exaggeration, my wife has problems with her download constantly freezing. She has to reboot and restart the download several times. It can take her hours to my minutes. We have the same computers (I built them), the same operating system, and the same (obviously) internet connection. That lead me to assume there was something wrong with the game.dat file, but after several fresh installs, the problem persists. I even did a fresh install of Windows figuring there was a system file acting up, or some program interfering, still no luck. I am now fully convinced that computer science is really an art form.
Kind of a catch 22 situation. Every time they add a new permanent activity in game, they fracture the player base and makes it more difficult to find other players to play with.
The best way to go about this, for someone with limited time to play, is to not read about the previews at all (especially if you cannot live vicariously through reading the notes, you’re doing yourself a disservice by doing so), and just log in to the game whenever you’re ready, and participate in whatever is happening at that time.
Enjoy the moment, that’s what life’s about. You will never be happy, and indeed you are actively seeking unhappiness, if you keep fretting over things you missed.

I think the op meant – a week may go by before they have the time to play… Not to DL the patch.. Sheesh people…
Speaking of Queent’s gauntlet…
I think queen’s gauntlet could have stayed permanent. (if the rewards needs to be tweaked/removed, go ahead and maybe add some titles) If crown pavilion closing down was the problem, they could have moved those domes outside of the mini-zone and put it in DR, which I think would be even better. People randomly passing by can watch the fight like how it was intended. If the reward isn’t too crazy, it won’t be too crowded and wait time shouldn’t be too bad of an issue.
and to the main topic, while I am not too against the idea of temporary contents, yes I think they missed some permanent content opportunity especially with fun-oriented solo contents(as opposed to reward-oriented mass scale events) like the gauntlet, SAB and so on.
