I’m just curious as to how fighting the other dragons will work in the Living Story? Given that The Pact is a part of the Personal Story and they’re supposedly the fighting force against the Elder Dragons, how can the other dragons be worked in when people don’t like Trahearne, and unfortunately, Trahearne leads the Pact? Will another fighting force emerge as part of the Living Story, or will The Pact be scrapped altogether?

ANet will either have to actively make a continuation of the PS, or they’re going to have to openly admit the living story takes place post-PS (it already uses elements of late personal story despite their “no paradoxes” claim). At least that’s how I view it happening.

But honestly? Is rather get an actual expansion, even if it means paying for it.

Dear ANet writers,
Stop treating GW2 as a single story. Each Season and expansion should be their own story.

Trahearne is the leader, but that doesn’t necessarily mean he has to be boots-on-the-ground for future missions. He can remain in Orr in an administrative capacity, and leave future campaigning to better-liked characters. It seemed like he mostly cared about Orr anyway, so I don’t think that would be out of character for him.

I actually think it would be fairly easy for Living Story to focus on a dragon. If there’s the same amount of build-up and prep work as there was with Zhaitan, they could dole out a few missions every couple of weeks, and it would occupy us for awhile.

The Living Story is already officially taking place after the personal story, so there’s not issue there.

Trahearne’s Wyld Hunt is to cleanse Orr, not lead the Pact. I would expect, regardless of how the character is received by players, that Trahearne would step down from his leadership position once the Pact is less focused on Orr. It’s still Trahearne’s role in the world to finish cleansing Orr (that was his dream) so he would want to stay there and work on that. If the Pact moved onto other dragons (while still retaining their presence in Orr) it would likely be under a new leader.

I think the story would be best served by either using Destiny’s Edge, establish characters relevant to new content, introducing new characters with the new content or a mixture of the above.

No it’s not. ArenaNet has not yet officially made a statement in the story when it takes place, although it both takes elements from the end of the personal story (pact airships) as well as making contradictions with the end of the PS (Logan returning to Jennah).

Yet they said they don’t want to make any paradoxes for those who either completed, or didn’t, the personal story…

Maybe but it would be bad to have the dragon stuff happening and progressing but not being repeatable and available to players who weren’t there at the time.

Given the quality of the current living story we have had so far in the first year, I really hope not.

I mean, instead of an expansion with a new race/profession, several new large zones and continuing Personal storyline we have got… what? Two small and/or uninteresting zones, two dungeons with just one mode, a random bunch of fractals, a bunch of minigames, guild missions and some other stuff that isn’t really worth mentioning because well, they aren’t there anymore.

With this pace, we will MAYBE have one expansion’s worth of new content in maybe 2 years from now. Maybe, because so far they have not shown us anything that could be worth an expansion, such as large zones, new professions or races.

If the next year will be similar in content to the first, with no proper expansion and/or expansion worthy content announced, this game will go on life support before it even got really started.

Sorry for the doom & gloom, but ANet seriously needs to up their game regarding their “content patches”. The current ones we get just won’t cut it in the long run.

One – Piken Square

Logan going back to Divinity’s Reach isn’t a contradiction to the Personal Story. All of Destiny’s Edge stayed mainly in they home areas, then came together to fight a dragon, then go kitten y and went back home to pout, then came back together, then back home happy. They didn’t go off and make they’re own home together. They clearly come together when needed. So I’d expect to see further dragon related content to have them together to help.

As for the Personal Story as a whole, I’d consider it more of getting to play flashbacks at this point. The only time the world treats you on par with your PS point is when you first talk to the NPC after the opening instance and get told to “go make a name for yourself”, then on it’s completely unrelated.

I’m still holding out for the tie in to the “greater threat” of the dragons. There’s so much they could do, but unfortunately they’re not hinting at much.
