“Life’s a journey, not a destination.”
Can't wait to not play Season 2
“Life’s a journey, not a destination.”
“Can’t want to not play” I had to read that several times over before I understood what it actually meant.
~Sincerely, Scissors
Oops, that’s a typo, it should be ’can’t wait’. I’ve fixed it now.
“Life’s a journey, not a destination.”
Agreed, assuming there’s not a catch of limited-time stuff. I am actually trying to snap up as much work hours as I can along with several other RL-time commitments which keep me from playing all that often anymore. (Notably, trying to ensure I continue to have a place to eat, sleep, bathe occasionally between works shifts . . .)
Being able to log in once within the period and have access later when I have more time . . . whenever that may be . . . is valuable to me.
Heya, Danikat. I’m really looking forward to playing LS:S2. It will be nice to be able to experience it when I choose to (if I choose to hold off for whatever reason) instead of being forced to take part or miss out forever.
Regarding the edited thread title: “Can’t wait to not play Season 2”
Your edit now makes it sound like you are not looking forward to it. That you are anxious to not play it, as in being dismissive of it entirely.
Would you maybe consider a more simplistic and direct: “Cannot wait to play Season 2”? Or like the movie of the same title: “Can’t Hardly Wait…for Season 2”
edit
Seems the point made in the OP was lost on me and that the intent of the title and OP of not being able to wait to not play it is exactly the point; the choice of not playing it or playing it if/when they want to.

Title thread does remind me of Don’t Let’s Start
. . . I just needed an excuse to share it.

As I understand it, any world events in the LS will still be limited time events. Once the story moves on, they no longer happen.
delicate, brick-like subtlety.
Heya, Danikat. I’m really looking forward to playing LS:S2 as well.

It’s supposed to sound like I’m not looking forward to it. Or more specifically that I’m looking forward to avoiding it.
Under the old system you had to play the releases during the 2-4 weeks they were available or miss them forever, you didn’t have a choice.
So what I’m looking forward to is logging in when a new Living Story release has just come out and deliberately choosing not to play it because I feel like doing something else that day, knowing I can come back to it and play the Living Story later on.
It is a weird concept, that’s why I made a topic about it.

Sorry, just realized that after reading it again. I edited my comment to reflect that I finally understand.

I’m not sure the Devs said all Open-World events will be time-limited. I think they stated many would be permanent, as well.
Here’s the quote from the News Blog:
‘Open world content additions to Living World updates will permanently expand or change the world of Tyria and will tie to the theme and story of the episode. This means you can play the open world content and the story content (if you’ve unlocked that episode) anytime you want, on every character you ever make on your account! You’re no longer limited to completing the episode during its two-week release window. This means that going forward, all of the content and all of the rewards for Living World will be permanent.’
Sounds great for those desiring more permanent content!

As I understand it, just about everything will be added and made permanent, or will be changing an existing thing. Think of it like Southsun and Kessex respectively.
And regarding unlocking, how I understand it is that everything in the open world is always be permanent and accessible, but the story instances need to be logged in or bought-if-missed to beaccessible.
Sounds like only gemstore items will be limited time from now on, to me.
Stop treating GW2 as a single story. Each Season and expansion should be their own story.
me too op i cant wait to start but doing when i want to do it. i think that part is the best part of the journal and being to replay the parts i liked so much over and over
This is possibly the best part so far.
For multiple updates i have opted out of doing things since more important things happened in real life.
Getting the chance to experience those releases, even if it is only half of the content that carries over is going to be huge…
yeah i think i will really like at the end of one release still missing one or two achievements friends asking me to come pvp cause they are 4/5..
and i can say yeah sure ill do these achievements in halv a year.. i got the story so i can do it whenever i want
well i will still play the new content on the release day (assuming there is nothing extreme that hinders me from doing so)
just because i dont want to fall “behind” in the story and get spoilered by… anything
its going to be great if it will turn out as we imagine
lets just hope it will turn out that way..

Well, in the twitch stream they did say there would still be some ‘limited time’ things, which they cited the warning signs and whales washing up on the beach before the karka insanity as examples. Things that help build up to the next release but (logically) would go away after. They made it seem like these should be minor things though, so we’ll see.
Its really, really good players can play to there individual schedule and not have it dictated by Anet.
Games should revolve around its players, not the players revolving around the game…
90% of the LS is skipped by me because the more i get forced in to something the less i care about it, i play a game in my own pace and no dev is gonna force me to do stuff that is filled with rush crap.
isn’t a game made to relax after a hard day, not to worry about work…….

This. Oh, this. So much this.
Well-played, Danikat, well-played. And I totally agree.
While I’ll probably continue playing most of the content as it comes out (at the very least any of the non-delayable content, like any large group events,) it’ll be nice to have some more flexibility. The next time we hit a long dry spell between releases, I look forward to dusting off some previous LS content, either to get more achievements or to catch up on things I missed.
There is something wrong when the thing you’re most excited about is not the game itself but when you can play it.
When I’m able to play games is the last thing I factor in when buying a game.
