I love how people start to complain 24 hours after the patch.
How about 1 try per day? You’ll most likely have your two missing boxes within a month and it’s not that frustrating if you do other things in between, too.

23 runs (which were not enjoyable as people refuse to listen most of the time) but I got mine, never doing the event again.

Man, based on some of the stuff I’m reading here it seems I better forgo my story achievements for the time being and start killing the Vinewrath ASAP, because it sounds like a lot of people are going to stop doing it entirely once the grind is over.

I will. Most people will I think, It’s not a very fun event, and they feel cheated by the lack of any ability to buy the coat.

I am at 0/9 for coat boxes myself and its pretty ridiculous when people are finishing it in two runs. People spending the fight dead or auto attacking from behind a beehive half afk are getting coat boxes when people actually dealing damage are getting 2 rares in some cases.

With the reward like this I am going to start getting credit for one boss then afking for the rest of the event while I do something else, I tried for the first two days to help people with achievements (hardly anyone fills the beehives) but with my rotten luck I am just in it for the grind now, have to be efficient.

I thought my luck was bad at 0/11 but it looks like some people are having it even worse, it seems like people get it in 2 runs or it takes like 15… doesnt help that the last run I didn’t even get a rare.

For a moment this idea came to my mind, too. But I don’t think I do it. Because it is not teamplay.

There are already often on maps a lot of players standing AFK in the camp or elsewhere and are waiting for the breach and the map feels a little empty, even if it actually is full.

I hope there will be other ways (in Open-World PvE) to obtain the carapace chest box in the near future. Then the players that are there only for the grind can leave the map for good and only the players that are having fun playing there, stay.

I’m around 20 runs, 16 wins, 2 failures 2 DCs. No box yet. I did everything else in between, so now the only thing I am missing to be done with this patch are those 2 boxes.
The only reason why I’ll come back to Silverwastes after I get those two is to spend all my crests on keys (yes you get a lot of crests from Vinewrath, especially if you have no luck to get the coat box) and join some chest farm map.

Final update: I’m done, I got my third box. I’ll probably come back to this event, but not for a while.

Is this item havea very low chance of dropping? Like exotic in chest?

Eventualy, ANET could add Boxes into PvP reward tracks as it was with Ambrite weapons materials or just makes the 100% drop rate from the boss. As for me, it tooks 6 or 7 successfull boss-kill-events until i got 2nd and 3rd coat boxes. I guess i can call myself lucky.

Thats lucky.. i have been farming the boss for almost 2 days now and still got no carapace coat box.. well got one from achievment and thats it..

ANet.. REALLY? Some of us who actually like the Bioluminescent Armor worked hard farming over 8k bandit crests over Christmas and New Year hoping to get the full set and you unleash the unspeakable thing called RNG on us? This really is the pits.

Can I suggest that the game finally puts in content rewards that relies totally on effort rather than RNG? Or maybe the objective of the game has been changed to “AFK until Vinewrath and hope for the best”?

The thing that makes me sad about the carapace coat boxes is that I probably would enjoy playing the boss, but currently I am just thinking “when will it drop?” “how often do I have to repeat this?”. At least for me this boss has become a tedium because of this rather than enjoyable content.

There’s a 100% chance of it dropping every time you open the box. The odds are quite a bit less, though.

My friends are pulling off a box every run even if they don’t need them anymore and I have yet to get a single one outside the first run. It’s always like this for me, why do they must put stuff behind RNG like this, why can’t it be an option with the crest vendor too?

I pretty much never post to the forums but, after two months of farming this map, my seventh run on the new boss and getting a shoulder box and no coats, I’m so frustrated and burnt out. If it was available for crests like everything else, I’d be done already. I really hope this changes to be like the others. :|

the boss fight is fine, the story line is awesome with its ending but RNG makes me sad.

Is anybody else thinking “if this is what Anet thinks of as the best way to do content these days, do I really want to pay money for more of it in an expansion”?

Got my 3rd box, finally. I’m done. Good luck to everyone who didn’t finish it yet. It’s really annoying to see people linking their 5th in a stack box and you didn’t get any yet.

So how players get these boxes when nobody do this kitten anymore? Funniest part is that reward isn’t even any good.

I’m still hopeful they will add the coat boxes to the vendor at some point for those who are just kitten out of luck. Every other armor piece is there and they must realize people will leave this event eventually.

Until then, I’ll try my luck every now and then.

They can exchange for 1500 Crest but we need a solution.

frustration made more so for those who actually farmed crests and terra griff parts only to see others get the armor first due to rng while being stuck at 1 coat box….. Whoopee do!

The drop rate seems pretty high, actually, going by all the anecdotal evidence. I’d hazard a guess at something like 1 in 4.

Did 3 times and got 3 coat chests, I believe that I’m pretty lucky.

Maybe anet could fix accounts that have broken rng. This is precursor all over again. Maybe some accounts can’t never get these boxes.

Incidentally I’ve played actively since launch and haven’t had a precursor either!

And today I salvaged 8 exotics in a row and didn’t get any dark matter!

Maybe I should just play something without luck as a factor.

(clocking up to 11 Vinewraths now without additional boxes. The game saw it fit to give me a shoulder box, though, as if to say “Haha, made you think it was a coat!”)

Try and build any possible justification for Anet doing it that way.

And John Smith debunked the idea of accounts having “better luck” etc a while ago.
