Would it be possible for GM staff to revise mentioned item cost of 1000 crests?
I understand that it can’t be too easy to get, but 1k is going…overboard. Especially that people with multiple characters on lvl 80 cant get it for free. This hurts players which only focus on 1 character(like me). Once next parts of bioluminescent skins come, they’ll probably have the same price tag. It’s just too much…
Getting even 500 crests is time consuming. And requires to first jinding an instance filled with coordinated players, doing all major events.
I don’t think reducing cost of carapace shoulder box can have any negative impact on the game. Just making players with only 1 lv80 character being treated fair with others.
What is the reason for setting 1k crest cost tag in the first place?

1000 crests isn’t even that hard to get. You also get one for completing the story chapter, and you can get them from lost bandit chests.

I’ve only spent about 4-5 hours in Silverwastes so far and have accumulated about 1500 crests (not counting the ones I’ve spent on keys).

As the crests and events are permanent content, the current cost of 1,000 crests is very well balanced.

i focus on 1 toon and had no trouble getting 800 crests within about 2 days for a dust mite tonic. without specifically searching for organized maps, merely populated maps. and without even dedicating more time than it takes to complete the silverwastes achievements.

tbh, i think youre just whining. even though i do recognize theres a huge disparity in the effort required to complete the episode vs gathering 1k crests (but its a good thing to have varied options).

So you get easily get (at minimum) 250 crests an hour…

that means you will have to “grind” and “farm” a maximum of 4 hours for this so called “legendary” armor…

I’m afraid that 4×250=1000, not 1000. So it’s 8 hours for 2 shoulder skins. Assuming all 6 piece chests cost only 1000 crests (and not some 3000 for chest), even under ideal circumstances of doing all events in the map and tagging multiple bosses, that is 8×6=48 hours of grinding Silverwastes, 6 days of 8-hour grinding of a single map extra to the time spend for the story itself.

I really don’t know how do ppl get crests so fast. I buy no keys, spend all time in full sw maps with 4 comms and since echoes started i accumulated 1500 crests, sitting in sw everyday for at least 4 hours.
My point still stands. I do not see 1k price tag justified in any way

Or you can spend an hour doing the story and get it for 0 crests….do it on 3 characters, thats all 3 skins, for 0 crests, in about 5 hours if you take your time.

You also get bonus loot, crests, etc. for doing the story too so….you do know the story is what the patch is about right? not grinding the zone and farming to try and use a merchant?

The merchant is there for people who miss the content/haven’t bought it yet (after the next chapter starts)

I got a carapace chest as reward for completing the breach. Pretty sure its random (and at this point I wish I would have screenied it), but it seems you can get them other ways too.

Even without farming chests, I earned more than enough crests to get both shoulder skins outside the one awarded from the Living Story.

That’s 2,000 crests for just doing the area’s quests and campaign. But, I must admit, the huge amount of people in the first three days helped.

Even with the zerg gone, due to the chest farm nerf, you can still solo vets and escort supply trains to get crests. Use the LFG tool to see if there are any taxis to fuller maps.

However, with a certain expansion now out, the population will decrease for a while, and since most of us still here have already gotten our achievements, especially with the chest nerf, we have little reason to return to Silverwastes.

I’m seriously thinking about playing the original Guild Wars again to get those Hall of Monument achievements if that tells you anything.

Yeah, ANet’s timing on this was bad given the MMO community’s interest in that other game right now, but hindsight is 20/20. And the die-hards will tell you nothing’s changed, but common sense says otherwise.

I think it’s well balanced as well, and as far as unfair for people who only focus one one character… well, I like to think of it as one of the few bonuses to playing multiple characters. And it’s not like this is a time limited item, it’s going to be around permenenatly. So if you just don’t wanna get the crests, when you DO level another character, which you might, you can just do it then. No hurry.

If you had read first post you would notice I talk about situation, when one has only 1 character on lv80.

Binded, I have only one level 80 character too. But, again, I was doing my crest farming when the map was hopping.

Also, keep in mind, the content is permanent. Or, at least, I think it is. So, eventually, you’ll get the shoulder pieces and achievement . . . just not at the speed the initial crowd did unfortunately.

It’s a sad commentary, but if you’re not part of the initial rush with new content, you tend to get left behind.

I don’t think 1000 crests is that excessive for a shoulder skin (considering that you’d need 2 at most to unlock all classes)… but if you feel it’s taking too long or too hard, you could always just replay the story on another character, and you’ll get another set of shoulders.

Like others have said, replay the story on 2 alts if you have to have it now. Otherwise, 1000 crests are easy enough to come by even casually. However if you find that difficult, just remember that it isn’t going away. This is permanent content so you have no real time limit on how long it takes. Make it your goal.
