There have been a number of griping threads, so I just wanted to throw out another complement to Anet, on the new methods they are employing in season 2. The mixture of combat and exposition based instances, connected by a string of open-world NPC’s and clues, insures not only that all the information and story material is in game, but that we as players see it. Moreover, everything flows more fluidly, as we are lead as if on a trek, or adventure through the terrain from one instance to another.

It is a much fuller, and far more enjoyable experience watching the story play out before you when everything is instanced, rather than random large scale world events, that -while certainly on a scale of epic proportions- simply have no means of pushing a narrative. The quality has greatly improved since season 1, and I feel you are moving in the right direction, so please keep up the good work!!

I sort of agree because it means players actually know what is going on, but the sheer AMOUNT of exposition is deplorable. Exposition is one of the least creative ways to deliver story and information, there’s a reason writers and films get a lot of criticism if they employ exposition…

Yes, it would be nice if they added some cut scenes into the mix to show the action, rather than talking it out all the time, but my original statement still stands, they are finally turning this ship around.

The one thing I did find really irksome, was that the trailer showcasing the Zeferites explosion and plummet didn’t make it into the game as a cut scene. That was such an epic video, and yet… they didn’t make use of it. You simply walk into the new map and find it destroyed. Just another example of story content posted on their website but left out of the actual story.
