Give The Vigil, The Priory and the Order of Whispers a job board with missions. Each season of the living story add missions that support the story and release with each living story installment. This alone would help to give a little more purpose to our alignment to whatever order.

Doing these missions would reward the player with rank points. Ranking up gives the player access to rewards from the orders quartermaster. With each season of the living story release a new set of armor and weapons that can be earned from each order.

Likewise it would be really nice if with each Living Story season, a new set of armor and weapons was released for WvW, PvP and Dungeons that could ONLY be obtained through doing that content. It would give players something to work towards by playing their favorite content over and over again.

I like the order missions idea. You could have reconnaissance and misdirection type missions for whispers agents. Some of those recon missions could produce things for the priory to study and develop “stuff” for combating the newest dragon, which could lead to their own ‘find this ruin’ or ‘recover this relic’ type missions. And the vigil, well they are pretty straight forward hack and slash, they get the ‘defend this’ and ‘hold the line’ type missions.

Wow, my mind has totally ran away with that idea. I could keep going, but I won’t. Definitely like the suggestion though.

Don’t look at me like that. Whatever you’ve heard, it’s probably not true.

Defenetly support the idea. And since arena net confirmed now that personal story → S1 → S2 are cronologicly this way i hope we will see a bit more of the pact. Thou i am not shure if the pact operates now as a unit or are only colaborating as the 3 organizations.

I imagined it kinda like this:

If you were a member of the priory you might get a mission to research the weakness or the origin of something. Then later in the Living Story, regardless of which order you pick, something is said about the priory discovering said weakness or origin or whatever. If you were a player that did that mission you would be like “yeah, that’s right, I was there, I helped!”

If you part of the vigil maybe you had a mission to storm some evil establishment and put a stop to something. This might be mentioned and if you were a member you know what they were speaking of as you were a part of it ..if you did the mission that is.

You get the idea.

No, but I’m glad you said something. It gives me an opportunity to explain further I sorta imagined it as an event that would be triggered by a player with a specific mission active talking to the right NPC. Ideally you probably would only be able to have one mission active at a time. Sorta like the personal story except I don’t think it would need to be instanced and you would gain rank points for completing them, rank up and gain access to more and more rewards through the order quartermaster. If it wasn’t instanced than other players could join in too, that might be cool. Do you get what I mean?

+1 for the idea and just to make it a bit better anet could create individual story paths for each order… And near the end combine it into a unified pact story. Storywise u should be strictly limited tovyour order but now that pact has been called to action members could also helpbout another order in thier efforts…. This willbgive a way to access all parts of the content….

If Aney has not worked on whole of season 2 this could possible else we have to wait for season 3

Stole my idea, stinker! I was just thinking this today. It’d be a great idea. There’s so much they could do with the Orders – story missions, dungeons, new skills, guild-type missions. I’m also thinking they could add content similar to the Paths in Wildstar.

great idea op they could have three parts are each release it would be a bit more work and with our choice which one we do. each mission reveals part of the living story and the ability to do the other parts with guild mates

That’s true, but I’ll be honest : the Dynamic Events aren’t the best part of the game, because, while sometime impressive, most of them fail to convey a sense of continuity or impact on the world at large.

I understand that ANet doesn’t want to retract from its previous stance, but in my opinion, a game with only DE isn’t inherently better than a game with only quests with no impacts on the world. A mix between some quests-like events and the pure DE would be better to add versatility to the game, since the quests would allow for more personal choice ingame than the “cold” dynamic events.

I’m still not really asking for quests, but I agree with you on your statement that mixing in quests and DE would not be a total bad idea. I wouldn’t mind this as long as they found a way to kinda make it their own version of what a quest is (while not being a dynamic event).

I sometimes feel that Anet has tried so hard to not be like other games that it has omitted aspects of other games that really worked well and was well enjoyed. Some of these things could strengthen the game and make it better while others understandably would not fit.

Many people have given a post on such a suggestion before, including myself. ANet has yet acknowledge that they even read one such article. i dont have much hope for it. The orders were forgotten almost immideatly after you join one.
I’ll +1 this anyway, maybe then ANet will see it.

etc, similars, randomly assigned. completing them gives you favor of the order depending on how well you finished them.
Favor would be either a currency or something to unlock merchants/better missions/titles

Then we are like-minded. That is pretty much what I had in mind too. I don’t think Anet is going to very often come straight out and say they like an idea which is too bad because people lose home and feel like they are unheard, but I think they probably… or someone there probably does read the posts. If enough people show interest, I’m sure they will notice either way.

This sort of content would be a big addition to the game and I think it would go a long way. After seeing how Anet took on the Living Story and then even decided to add new installments to it every two weeks.. I believe they have the dedication to their game to make such a large addition to their game such as this.

This sort of content would be really nice because it would give players more in the game to work towards, more rewards, and just more to do in general! The missions could be as simple as point players to certain content in the name of the Order they represent (by accepting the mission). Maybe players could even earn rank or favor from the other 2 orders as well. For example if you joined the priory you start out at a friendly rank or whatever but with the other orders you have to do the missions available at the neutral rank. Just spit ball’n, tossing ideas out with you.

I think ANet has done a great job with the game, and has a lot more in store. I’d just like to see a more serious tone to the world and story and a little more depth to the world they’ve created.

The Orders need a REAL sense of purpose, an every day sense of purpose. Not just to the story. They could even have their own story and politics revealed through the suggested missions and ambient dialog.

I never played GW1 unfortunately, so I’m not real familiar but from what I read.. yeah kinda like that.

I imagined the missions to bring you to different places in the world to experience some content that already exists while also giving Anet an outlet to add more content to more places in the world that has a sense of purpose. Maybe even have some side stories through these missions. And missions that support what is happening in the Living story installment at the time. Not sure how that’d work with the way the new LS is set up though. Could still work we’ll have to wait and find out.
