So haw many times did you guys haveto try and solo Cornered. I’ve been looking for a group to help with it but it’s seems kinda pointless. No one seems to be at the same point in the story as me at the time and tbh I’m fed up with the fighting part.

Cornered isn’t that hard. If you can’t do it, I’m sorry, but you’re bad. I managed to solo it with my necro first time.

Then I’ll just quit the story line simple as . I’ve been playing gw2 since release just been on and off with a few things. There has been a lot of changes and yes I struggle. NOT every one can spend hours upon hours getting things right.

What problem are you having soloing it? Are you using ranged weapons?

Not very nice to call someone ‘bad’ when you don’t even know where Dulwitch is having issues. A constructive comment is better than, “Oh you must be bad… and I am so good I did it the first time…” That being said, Cornered can be difficult for some. I had to help my husband through it, but it can be soloed.

I am assuming you are referring to the last fight as being difficult. You do need to use ranged weapons and don’t worry about fighting the junk on the ground NPCs will do that. Concentrate on avoiding the circles laid down. I got over to the big platform in the middle and was able to do a lot there. If you fall or get knocked down (I did a lot) run through the mobs or see if you can use a crystal to get back up on one of the platforms. Once he gets invulnerable go through the sun aspect crystals and run at him to break that protection. Then you can continue to damage him, rinse and repeat till he is down. My first time took what felt forever and I was knocked down or died a lot. But once you get used to the mechanics (I did it over 6 avies and different professions) Some were able to do it easier than others. You should use stability where you can that helps with getting knocked off.

Don’t hesitate to ask in map chat to see if anyone will help out. You can also post in LFG to see if anyone else wants to do it. Post where you are having issues, a lot of folk have good hints and tips on getting through this stuff.

I’ve given up the LS segment “Cornered” as well. It’s not that I’m unable to do it with my Longbow Ranger. In fact, I’ve done the stoopid &^%4 thing twice. Both times I got D/C’d due to DDOS attacks before the NPC’s finish talking. Moreover, it’s a slog of a fight full of pointless Aspect Jumping and getting bounced around like a tennis ball. I’ve gone back to complete it only to find myself gritting my teeth at the start of the fight when suddenly I start thinking “Why am I doing this? This should be fun not a wall between me and more fun stuff.”

Then I go run Plinx for the millionth time. Again. That’s something the LS team need to own. I’m a hardcore player that wants more PvE solo content but finds Living Story S2 so obnoxious I’m actively avoiding it now.

@Aerinndis, it’s the second part where he’s jumping from cliff face to cliff face throwing bombs etc at my toon that I’m getting annoyed at. As soon as I run into the power crystals to get back up from being knocked down and try to activate there skill it’s gone and I’m stuck trying to dogde and avoid the jungle tenticle’s for a few seconds. I’ve tried this at least three times. I put looking for group’s up and no one seems interested in helping. I’ve even done the map ask ands again na-da. I’ll try again one more time and if I fail again I’m just putting guildwars down for a good long time.

Btw I’m using the staff powers on my Necro to do this with. I swear they’ve nerfed them a LOT.

Well, you can try this advice to help if that’s where you’re running into trouble. When you fall down, you don’t actually need the crystals to get back up. There is a ramp along the wall that you can climb up to reach the top level that he’s hanging out at. The crystals might provide a shortcut to get back up, but they’re actually not necessary.

Yes, I bagged using the crystals for getting up – too much trouble to do it with the mobs around and then trying to get out of the aspect and back to weapon skills was also a pain. I usually ran past the mobs and back up that ramp. There are spots there you can range him and still have room to maneuver when he shoots bombs. Actually when that event starts, instead of dropping down to the main floor you can look over and down from the cliff to the part where the ramp goes up. Just jump down there so you are in position right when the next part starts rather than having to make your way over to the ramp or up on one of the platforms through the mobs. That alone helped a lot.

I did not like this fight much nor the one outside Fort Salma – They were something to endure for me. I had to help hubby through those two – he got very frustrated with the mechanics on both of those.

If you see me on, give me a yell, I will certainly come help out.

A ranged weapon makes this fight so much easier. (In fact, a lot of the LS2 boss fights are incredibly easy if you’re ranged as opposed to melee). I did the achievements on my Ranger with a 1500 range Longbow. I actually killed Aerin from the initial high platform without ever going down to fight him, thereby remaining completely safe from all the bombs he throws. (A vine will sometimes spawn to try and knock you down. Keep on moving from side to side or use stability to avoid this.)

However, if you have a 1200 range weapon, you can continue to attack Aerin from the central platform without needing to chase him around. Avoid the bombs he throws by side-stepping constantly.

I never used the crystals during this fight, I stood on the main platform, moving out of red circles and ranging him down.

If you are a staff necro, you should not have a problem. if you are power + wells, works, condi + staff scepter, works….just stand in the middle, strafe out of circles and auto attack him to death if you need to.

This is all excellent advice, I haven’t got around to doing this fight yet but I can go into it prepared when I do now, thanks to everyone! (Or nearly everyone )
