1) Do we really need a new currency for every new map?

2) Why are they realized as items and not as entries in the Wallet?

From the wiki(http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Wallet):
“The Wallet is a tab on the hero panel that tracks currency for each account. "

1) Because otherwise people would basically have enough stuff to get everything that can be bought in the new map within a couple of minutes after release?

2) I would assume that in some cases that is because they are planned (or already are) used in Crafting or MF recipes, which doesn’t work that well with currencies.

Geoden and Bandit-Crests in recipes? Hard to believe, but should that be the case, they should get a material field in the bank, shoudn’t they?

The currency proliferation is stupid and kind of game-breaking, for me. Why do I have to track all these bajillions of trinkets? Because ANet set up the economy to let some people get super wealthy? So?

If someone out there can buy everything on the map in the first 10 minutes, let them. If ANet doesn’t want that, just drop the rewards from events, etc. Stop with the token BS. It was a terrible idea at the start of the game, and it’s still a terrible idea now.

Use KARMA, for crying out loud, lots of people have so much they buy Orrian boxes to turn it into gold. Rewarding people for spending time doing things in the game (vs. playing the TP) was exactly the reason ANet made karma in the first place. This is literally what karma should be used for, and instead I need to waste inventory space on trinkets because someone at ANet feels like making another currency.

Because if there was a wallet slot for that, you wouldn’t run out of bank room, eventually, and you wouldn’t need to do an extra bank storage purchase with gems. Simple.
Remember, they HAVE to make money somehow to pay those devs that everybody is beating on to do more stuff for us. Nobody works for free, and people do need to pay their bills and put food on the table.

Because for some reason, they decided to make karma universal instead of per-map. Now they’re stuck making all these crazy currencies that are almost but not quite like karma, or dungeon tokens, or renown (hearts), just so that each new map’s rewards can’t be bought right on first entry with resources gained elsewhere.

It seemed like a good scheme at first, but we are all starting to see now that it’s going to get messy, and soon. This is far from the first thread I have seen on this topic in the last few weeks.

What I would love to see is a single currency, (i.e. “Favor”), that works the same everywhere, but is tracked individually per map, and is woven into a cohesive reward scheme alongside the map’s achievements. Merge together the best aspects of most of the non-gold currencies in a way that makes sense, and won’t explode into a noodly headache by this time next year.

I should be writing.
