Do please involve more the main villain.
Didn’t Scarlet’s activities in the open world mean that the Season 1 content was removed, and that was actually a really bad idea?
What does an interest in the developing story, and the excitement connected to that, have to do with RP’ing? Do you even know what that means? Role-playing means acting as the character you portray, which has zero to do with mere interest in the GW2 story. Just to educate you on this, calling someone a role-player is not an insult. Role-playing games (long before there was such a thing as online gaming) have been around for ages, but you are comparing apples to oranges (people interested in the game’s story vs. role-playing folks who wander the lands of Tyria and act out their characters in speech and action). Seriously…
Anyway, as for your wish to see more of what’s happening in the Living World’s storyline affecting the actual olds maps: yes, that would be sweet in a way, but only for those people who have already played through all the old content. What about new players? The reason Anet made the Living World separate from the old maps was because Season 1 was actually implemented into the whole world and people who missed it complained. As a developer, you have to make compromises, and as a player you have to accept that and understand why it has been done that way.

He means that whatever happens in the lw story and the maps connected to it stays in there with not much relevance on the outside world. And hes right the story and the maps do feel alot disconected from the rest of the game.
Well, to be quite frank—- All these living stories are insane when in the background, the entire world is being devoured by ELDER DRAGONS. When you look at the action of Canach/Consortium (Karka Events), or Scarlet, or any of the current living story events.. there is just far too much going on. Build the pact, fight dragons.
Alas, I am not all that surprised or disappointed by the way the story is being handled. After the importance of choosing between the Vigil, Priory or Order of Whispers was pretty much downplayed later in the original story.. I pretty much got the just of how the writers at Anet would treat their story. Your choosing one of these orders doesn’t even directly affect your campaign in HoT, the Living Story.. or really anything about your character— and it should.

Every GW2 map exists in an specific time frame. Thats why Orr is still full with Zhaitans minions and only one little instanced area shows any sign of Trahearnes cleansing. Why? Because new players. Is it bad? No, not at all.
Think about it like this. You play the game today for the first time as a human. The tutorial is all about centaurs raiding shaemoor. But in the background you see DR with queen Jennahs feedback bubble. And every NPC in the city talks about the recent white mantle attack. Why? Didn’t the game tell you 20 seconds prior that the centaurs are the biggest thread right now?
Look at all the personal story missions located in LA. You explore the city as it is today but as soon as you enter the mission, it is old LA all of the sudden. No explanation why or what was happening. Thats the kind of stuff new people, and LW1 player, don’t want ever again in GW2.
Yeah I also hate the fact, that Kessex Hills will stay that way for all eternity. But I would hate it even more if suddenly half of the world would forever change. You liked this one specific spot in map X and spend many hours there for whatever reason? Oh too bad! It’s gone now…
Dis just an advise, but for me (and i guess a lot of players) i actually don’t care who lazarus is. Maybe the obsessed RP players or something.
Personally i see it like only as a reason to log in for a few hours and done, go back to play other games.
Why? because if you play the game outside from the living historical thing there is no more white mantle and more importantly nothing at all about lazarus thingy going on in the open world. Is he living under a rock or something?
Do you want me to care who lazarus is? Do it better, more interactions between the Living word thing and the actual living world WOULD BE AMAZING.
i care more about the anomalies that appear from time to time that about who the kitten lazarus is. He is just another plain baddie we have to beat. Or not i don’t care anymore.
Make the game feel alive and do impact the actual world like scarlet did and i will care. otherwise is another cartoon villain with no deep and no interest from me(at least).
I beg to differ. White Mantle stuff is going on in human personal stories. In retrospect, all the centaur troubles are also WM related, as we learned in “The Head of the Snake”.
If you’re expecting changes to open world maps similar to what happened in LS1, it won’t happen any more, ANet have clearly stated it.
do involve more the main villain? you mean the elder dragons.. have you been playing the game at all? the ENTIRE game is about finding a way to stop and kill the elder dragons.

But that was the whole premise of the live story, i personally enjoyed it a lot.
And honestly? That’s just how our real world, maybe not this excessive, works too.
Oh, you love that bar down the street and spent a lot of time there? Well, too bad, it had to close down.
What? Do you throw a tempertantrum about that?
For me the changes in Kessex Hills were awesome… suddenly the area of the lake changed, the reveal of the Tower and then its fall.
It was great.
Can new players get the same experience? No. But that doesn’t mean it’s something bad.
I personally will miss the old approach to the live story a LOT and think the core game should be more involved again.
The remains of Scarlets marionette for example could make for a great world boss and a nice plot point to change the way the steam creatures work as enemies.
Will it happen? No, probably not and honestly that’s sad.
The fact that the coregame will probably stay in it’s sorry, way too easy state for the rest of the game is a real shame.
You don’t play games because they’re like the real world. You play them because they aren’t. In the real world there are far too many factors at play which can lead to changes you don’t like. In games it doesn’t have to be like this.

But just because you don’t like a change doesn’t mean it can’t lead to good things.
And just because you didn’t like it doesn’t mean there aren’t people that do.
The whole discussion, in theory, is moot anyway since it’s A-Net that ultimately decides.
I made my peace with the fact that mayor changes to the world won’t come again, it’s sad but that’s how it goes.
Kudu was good villain. We killed him too fast, would have made good villain alongside with elder dragons. I hope we see more inquest in next expansion.
another cartoon villain with no deep and no interest from me
That pretty well describes Scarlet in my opinion.
