Does tier 4 ever happen?
happened to me.
I’ve spent all evening in a map that was regularly getting T4. Other days I’ve been in a map where I ask if we could try and get “wuts T4?”
It’s definitely possible and if you have enough people not that hard, you just need to find people willing to put the effort in. Maybe try asking your guild(s) if any of them are in a good map, or alternatively if they want to come and help the one you’re in.
“Life’s a journey, not a destination.”
Yes it does happen. I got lucky and found a taxi with group finder. :P I think the main zones are always full and the megaserver system likes to put me into empty zones (that stay empty for some reason).
Happens quite often actually…..
Two t5s in a row tonight; certainly far from unpossible.

That same map is now struggling to get past T3 though. And it’s the best map around at the moment.
It happens only in full instances. Completely self-defeating for Anet to have created the megaserver system only to bump up participation requirements so high that it excludes the lower tier (mega)servers from succeeding and forces us to “guest” once again. We are now back to square one.
yeah, i did a t4 one time
idk if t5 is possible; if it is, it’d be pretty rough

The actual numbers of players needed aren’t that high to reach T5, probably less than 25, but you need people who are all communicating and working towards that goal OR you need a full map because most maps are full of people doing other events, or afking or zerging around scaling events, and so on.
Both times I logged to do the achieves and events my server got T4, so I imagine it happens often.
(and the other 8 elite specs maxed too)

Sounds like the same difference to me. Let me know when you manage to find 25 random people to coordinate and work together on a map that isn’t near full. Most of those who might be willing are the ones getting taxis out and self-organizing guilds that can field 25 people have already moved to the upper tiers one way or another.
Also I wasn’t even talking about T5, I was answering the OP’s question about T4. Since not this release but the original Dry Top I have yet to see even T4 in my home instance even during peak times. That’s what, 3 weeks? Even assuming your estimates are correct on paper, it’s simply not the reality of how the game is played. The situation we have now with zephyrite favor is pretty much the exact same situation we were in with the Assault Knights, where we simply did not have the body count to obtain achievements and it only got worse as more people resorted to guesting.

I always get put in bad maps. Fortunately there are plenty of LFG groups offering to taxi so I was able to get my skritt queen achieve done yesterday. :P
First couple days, about every other cycle was T4 in the instances where I played.
Haven’t played this weekend to see if it was still the case.
Check LFG, there is a T4+ instance being organised atm. Doubt we’ll get T5 straight away but will work on it.
Getting the T4 is not that hard, yesterday I was on a serv (with frenchies) and we did it quite easily.
Now, I’m kind of concerned about after all the new LS, when Dry top will be visited as much as Southsun Cove…
T3 happens with little to no coordination and just people running around doing events
T4 happens with coordination but with little to no regard for completing bonuses or covering all parts of the map
T5 happens with high coordination and following bonuses.
It’s not all that hard to get into T4 maps. It’s also not hard to get into T5 maps as long as you know the people and taxi in late into the 2nd phase as people have already got their purchases in.
As it was said above, it is most certainly achievable. I have only been in a T5 once. Makes it very hard to buy T5 recipies.
I also agree that the requirements to get T5 are very difficult to achieve. It will be even more difficult when the new wears off of the zones.
A lot of it comes down to time of day depending on what side of the world you’re on. Some servers have a lot coordination. Watch map chat for people doing call outs, a lot of the time depending on traffic-hours you’ll see people put up event-rotations.
I was lucky the other day to find myself in a map with a leader who constantly called out the imminent events, which come up every 5 minutes, and noted which ones needed more people. Two T4’s in a row there. I had a blast hopping event to event, especially when I could help knock out a fast one and then get a 2nd one in the same 5 minutes. The time frame was around 11:30 pm eastern, my home server is TC.
I do wonder if that will still be happening later as the LS moves on.
In the EU we have a dry top guild [DT]. In that guild, I never have any trouble getting to a t4 or t5 map, might be worth a shot if you’re interested in doing dry top content more frequently.
Dry Top is one of the best areas for ‘farming’ dragonite now so I would think it would live on to some extent after LS has moved on. Megaservers gave new life to the Orrian zones and the temple events there so I would expect Dry Top to be just another option for the farming zergs to frequent.
On my side i never found T4 while joining randomly the area. Never more than T3.
As time passes there will probably be more event chasers and less achievement hunters. This will give a good farming period for a few weeks until the numbers in the zone drop below critical mass, possibly.
Ironically I got it after making this thread

They probably didn’t expect players to screw with the allocation system by using taxi groups.
In the beginning it was regularly. now you probably have to organize it(kinda like gold pavillon) because most people are already finished with the map/achievements and thus there aren’t enough players.
I saw T4 two or three times playing last night. I managed to get one Amberite weapon crafted, and now I would like a scepter to go with my torch so I need to start all over again. The smaller events can be done solo or with a little help and there seems to be enough of them to make T4 without huge zergs present.
T4 is very easy to obtain. It’s T5 that’s difficult, but if you get into a good map, you can consistently get T4-T5 every round. All it takes is someone posting the events happening in map chat a few minutes before they start, and making sure people are at each event. If you’re on a map that’s just zerging every event, they’re doing it wrong, and you’ll never get past T3.
I’ve been on T4 maps pretty frequently lately; T5 is harder to achieve, but I was lucky enough to stumble upon a map that was getting T5 every time a few days ago, and got taxi’d over to a T5 map yesterday through LFG.

Well, I wouldn’t call T4 “very easy to obtain”, because it isn’t. Otherwise we wouldn’t have this thread. But you’re right, the problem is easily solvable in just the way you describe.
Or would be if it didn’t require players to get out of the zerg mentality. Zerging in Dry Top is unhelpful at best and can easily fail events (like South Mine) due to scaling. As a rule of thumb, most events should probably have between 4 and 10 people, and more is counterproductive because those people would be more help by doing a different event instead. In my experience, here’s what it takes to do some of the events:
– Crystal shard race: 3 people at least, the bonus is easier to obtain with 6-10 people, two of whom should have short-cooldown knockbacks.
– Rescue captive zephyrites (south mine): 2 squads of 2-3 people each.
– Kite basket: 2 people, 3 may be easier for the bonus.
– Three-toed tootsie: 5-8 people, one of whom is the dedicated interrupter (off-hand pistol thief works well for this)
– Coloqual queen: 8-10 people
– Shut down inquest experimentation: 4-8 people
– Serene: 0 people :-P

I don’t think I’ve ever gotten into a t4 server, but that might be because I play on off hours. Mostly people just milling around, and we would be lucky to ever see any blue doritos on map.
To awnser the OP:
No. T4 doesn’t ‘happen’.There are people actually putting in effort to get to t4-5.
With that said, little to no effort is needed for T3. You can solo it (granted, in this situation solo means you are focusing on events, and there are randoms on the map doing who knows what)
T4? You have to go duo for that one. One of you take the path: Tendril A, Serene, Inquest mine. The other should go for Tendril B, Inquest boss, Light golem, Ley line.
T5 – Requires organization, but around 20-25 people is enough, with 4-5 people knowing exactly what they are doing.
Also with that said, we on WSR (Whiteside Ridge) EU are doing t5 2 times a week for fun (and loot). Anyone is welcome to join
T5 is simple enough . The main reason you need to know is that you need 4-5 full parties with ppl who know what and when to do for quick reaction on Bonus events. But among them you need another 20-30 or more ppl (randoms) who will help you with such events as Giant, Queens, Race, North and South Mines, etc. Only fast responding on every event will help you reached the T5. Without trying you will never get anything.
Also try to find Dry Top T4-5 taxi thru the LFG system.
Doesn’t happen often where I am. In the last few days Dry Top only hit T4 once when I was playing (which honestly isn’t that much). I’ve never seen T5.
T4 is easier to achieve than T5.
T5 has failure limit of 2.
- 1 failed event and 1 failed bonus.
- 2 failed bonus.
- 2 failed events.
I rarely do PvP or Hard PvE, unless it’s organized.
Yeah we made T4 like 6 times in a row yesterday and even T5 once, today has been all T3 though, just depends on the day/time
I was on for about 3 hours Sunday night and got T5 once and T4 twice. Last night we were a consistent T3. It varies but it does still happen.

T4 happens all the time at Seafarer’s Rest (EU), especially during prime-time
