So, I just discovered that you can use the game’s jumping mechanics to avoid dying in the strong currents of the Draconis Mons waters.

All you need to do is keep to the surface and spam the Space key while “jumping” all the way to safe land. I felt like Jesus walking on water.

I tried that but I still die. I did notice that one time when I tried it every other jump I’d avoid damage, so maybe there a certain way you need to time it?

Yes, definitely. Maybe I’ll make a video of it.

Here’s how it works:
The water applies a 1s long damaging debuff to you every second when you touch it. Much like you can jump though the poison in SAB, you can avoid all (or most) applications by jumping out at just the right timing.

Exactly, and I find it fairly simple to time. I was truly amused when I discovered this on the first day while people kept complaining about dying in the water.

There is an achievement for dying though, so it’s worth doing at least once.

(Says the person who discovered it by accident because she got into the zone and immediately decided to swim around the Boiling Sea. In retrospect the name should have been a hint.)

It’s good to know there’s a way to avoid it though.
