Q:

Had the game since it came out, enjoyed most of it. Not into ‘suicide’ levels. real life is tough enough for some of us, need the fun. Got so far in Dragons Reach 2 Story, until the ’ Recalibrating the Waypoints’ quest. What a drag this one has turned out to be. Tried it several times, avoiding getting killed too much by poison , it’s very difficult to keep control of what’s going on against a Boss who is tough enough to kill on it’s own, never mind the aggravating minions.
Do game programmers ever think that when players come home from work, college or whatever what they want to do is have fun? Sure others like harder the better and they are often the more vocal in forums. Me I believe in the old game makers protocol of the Four-F’s [and no they are not swear words. and can be found in game making instruction manuals/books] This quest was so long and eventually so tedious, I considered repainting my flat might be more fun.
But if some genius has a way to complete this quest without spending hours strapped to my chair I’d appreciate any worthwhile tips

Put Taimi on the turret. Set people to kill the incoming husks. During the fight the main boss becomes invulnerable when the roots come up. To fix this either watch for non-firing vines or wait until Braham tells you which one to kill. Once the vine goes down commence the killing! BTW, the main boss becomes invulnerable from ‘eating’ the power from the mini waypoints. That’s what Taimi is attempting to destroy to keep from happening. IF you have enough people, one of you can try to work the turret better..but we’ve found it’s easier to put Taimi on it and just do the rest.]

Nah, cannot be possibly related to those things. I come home from work and workout after that and manage the fight just fine.

Well that’s certainly strange because when I come home from a 9 hour dayjob and a daily 2 hour workout I manage those ‘suicide missions’ just fine.

Am I the only one who wonders why people have such a hard time with the combat in this game? The combat in Guild Wars 2 is incredibly easy to learn and most of the fights are relatively easy. Even the Shadow of the Dragon fight is relatively easy compared to fights I’ve dealt with in the past in other games.

The only fights that I remember ever finding difficult were…

1. Zhaitan
Pre-nerf, back when there was a bajillion risen trying to kill you and Zhaitan’s AOE circles actually did substantial damage. I still have horrible memories of risen flooding the ship and my entire group getting killed the second we tried to use the waypoint. Also, we all had broken armor. Fun, fun times.

2. Aetherblade Retreat
It wasn’t difficult for me, personally, but I often found myself as the sole group member alive trying to solo it because everyone else got destroyed on the asura’s lightning walls or Mai Trin’s cannons. Also, i’m talking about the original version, not the fractals version of the dungeon.

3. The Scarlet Hologram
Moderately difficult, I suppose, but one gets used to it.

4. The Marionette
Not because it was difficult for me, but I had to work with other people, so, that made it more difficult.

5. Triple Trouble
This one is actually difficult.

6. Tequatl the Sunless
Post-buff, and only in the first couple months, afterwards it was incredibly easy and is to this day.

7. Clockheart
This one was difficult, but only when it had been newly released. I haven’t fought it since then, but i’m sure it would be easier now if I went back, especially since again, I had a tendency to be the last man standing and the rest of my group died fifteen minutes before me.
