The leaks clearly show elona to be the next major step in the gw2 universe. Meanwhile the ep6 art has some very noticable hints ( the freaking boat in the middle of it) that suggest that cantha is on the horizon.

Whats your opinion do you think we were JeBaited by the leaks or that anet messed up on the art. Or for the more brave ones that we are going to both places?

I think that style of boat is commonly seen in Core Tyria maps and artwork.

I don’t think we are going to Cantha, but anything is possible.

I think it’s gonna be cantha s surviving on orrr for a decade or two and we’ll meet them in the new map and get a fairly up to date update on cantha – not a return, but should help us who really want to go there feel better for a while

Personally the most boats iv seen are La ones or the Oorian ones that used to move the risen armies.

I think you’re a bit confused, first you say the pic is from Elona, then you say Cantha is on the way.

Personally I feel the pic has an Elona feel to it. Cantha would be out of the question because the expansion is about the desert for 4 huge maps with very few waypoints 3 on average and in the north of all 4 desert maps forcing us to use one of the 5 mounts in the expansion, the 5th map is a map from Vabbi region of Elona.

First, what I don’t get is Elona and the desert are only coming in the expansion or so the would have us believe.
Second the episodes are also about dragons, Elona is not unless Kralkatorrik is no longer in the desert and has moved to Elona.
If this pic is not Cantha and we can bet it ain’t, Then at the very least it’s a very tropical look.

No i didnt confuse anything the leaks had pictures of maps in elona. While the pic on the ep6 teaser has a canthan boat.

I have to second that the boat has very much Canthan feel. All though we’ve seen that similar model in labyrinthine cliffs already. I do expect the expac direct us towards elona, but we shall see.

Why is everyone assuming this is a Canthan boat?

Everyone is saying that it’s a Canthan boat because it looks a LOT like the source material from Cantha, which has this picture(link from the gw wiki)

Orr being green could very much have something to do with cleansing of orr. Or at least i think thats a good chance to show that it actually did something

We see a very similar boat on the loading screen when entering Bloodtide coast.

I think the boat is a Cantha-style boat, but not from Cantha. As Blanche points out, we see one when loading into Bloodtide Coast, so they exist in main Tyria.

I think we’re going to see a new map in Orr, one that’s improving after the events of the Living Story. We killed our first dragon there, but did nothing to gather up any loose magic from it, so there’s going to be loose magic in the area to deal with. And if you’re looking for information about The Six, Orr’s the place to dig for it.

Then from Orr, we’ll hop over to Elona.

Why do people look at the boat?

Its Orrian architecture surrounding it. Thus we go back to Orr. With their stuck in time thing (yuck) of maps its green again.?

Just some general thoughts – thinking “out loud”, as it were.

It’s definitely a boat of Canthan design, but that’s all that can be really said about the boat. Cantha had been cut off due to Zhaitan’s navy, so it’s possible that some intrepid explorers are coming up to our area.
I’m guessing the picture shows Orr revived after the events of the main storyline, after Trahearne did his ritual to cleanse Orr – and we killed Zhaitan. It may well be set in some area south of Straits of Devastation and/or east of Malchor’s Leap, but I suspect we’ll be heading toward Balthatzar’s Temple to gather information about him, and possibly confront him.
Then? Assuming the next expansion will take place in Vabbi….hmmm. Palawa Joko may be involved, either as an adversary sucking in loose dragon magic, an ally looking to deal with an empowered Kralkatorrik, or something else entirely. On no evidence, I like the idea that he’s impersonating Balthazar, but I do consider that unlikely.

The leaked maps if those can be trusted wouldn’t really take us as far as vabbi though. More like midway there imo.

Um, I’d have to disagree…

I think we don’t really know what’s going to happen. In the last chapter of Flashpoint it was clearly said that we are going to Hoelbrak to convince Norn that a killing of Jormag or even awakening him is really bad idea.

But the picture we got shows clearly that ep 6 is connected with Orr in the unknown circumstances.

I don’t really know why we would go there. The story doesn’t seem tolead us there. Even if Gods will come back so how will we get the news from Orr?

Perhaps Taimi will get a news of suspicious activity there??? Or a soldier will send a mail “Commy Tommy the Gods…. are here”.

Whatever I am looking forward to the trailer and a picture we got means nothing. And perhaps in the trailer we will get some hints why we would go to this place again.

But I don’t really treat the trailer as source of informations, because the last ones were horribly designed (I wrote a topic about them) so well I just believe we will get some kind of recap in the incoming trailer and I hope the narrator will return to the trailer.

We will go to Hoelbrak for sure, but I don’t know why we are going to return to Orr.

I just can’t find any reasons why there…. I hope we’ll find out in the trailer or at least in the final episode.

It looks indeed Orrian buildings, specially these not sure what to call them, but circle buildings are def from Orr.
The boat though looks INDEED Canthan ship!

Supposedly (I didn’t play back then) a ship like that one existed in the area with the Four Winds-festivals so the type of ship, while canthan in style, doesn’t have to come from Cantha.

Don’t get me wrong, Airhsip is kind of the pact MO, so it’s very propable, but how do you know for sure?

That boat means nothing, probably. Other way we would go to Cantha from Bloodtide cost, with exactly the same boat on a loading screen. I even doubt there will be that actual boat in the episode.

If you zoom in on the Oasis map, you can see there’s a Pact airship at the docks.

Cant seem to find it, theres an open area dock, though..

That boat looks no more Canthan to me than literally any other generic boat. In fact, if anything, I’d say it looks the least like anything in Cantha, since their boats were kind of blocky and covered in sails and cloths. While I couldn’t find that boat design in particular, I did see generally curved boat designs from literally every part of the game. Especially GW1 concept art. From the maguuma jungle river boats, to Krytan fishing boats, to Elonian…everything boats and Kournan swamp boats. Cantha had a few too, but mostly, as I mentioned, their boats had little to know curvature in them.

I’m not saying it’s not a Canthan boat, I guess. I’m just saying that it’s an INCREDIBLY generic boat design. Especially in Guild Wars. It can be from literally anywhere. Maybe it’s a Skritt boat, or whatever. Nearly ALL the boats in this series are curvy and simple. Except the pirate inspired large ships of Lion’s Arch in Guild Wars 2. But those are more recent and pretty specific to Lion’s Arch.

The Episode 6 boat looks more like the Bloodtide Coast one than the Canthan one. To me, at least.

It would be awesome if the leaks were actually the greatest feat of misdirection since “The Usual Suspects” and we are going to Cantha, but I don’t think so.

I think the boat actually suggests something different.

if next xpac is rumored to head where we think it’s going, and Orr is on the edge of Elona, we may actually be dealing with pirates in this area – corsairs specifically. The same boat was used in artwork for both (old) lions arch as well as bloodtide coast, and both had pirates as a common element.

Plus it would make sense that if pirates heard Zhaitan was dead and the risen are being culled back by the pact then Orr would be an ideal place to plunder for lost treasure or rare artifacts. The waters near and above orr were used by pirates before zhaitans rise, after all, so who knows what one could find now.

There is still the possibility that Orr may be just a simple instance like they did with Rata Novus or Tarir-Aurene related stuff, and the actual new map being somewhere else.

And yet there that empty instance of Rat Novus accessible through the Portal in Ember Bay, where it was not clear exactly why they will use it.
