Everyone who did not vote earned cash
Where did you read this?
Can you sell support tokens on TP?
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/info/updates/Game-Update-Notes-August-6th-2013
Check the very last note in patch notes, second post.
you can sell the support tokens to the npc for 1.1s each. this is totally unfair to everyone who took part in the event and rewarding those who didnt. anet should sent everyone 1.1s for every token they used to keep it balanced.
yeah, politics sucks

Amen to this, I’m sure they meant it as a nice gesture, but everyone who actually participated got slapped in the face. I’m sitting on 75 silver worth of tokens, which is just the leftovers.. Meanwhile I have around 400 representation buttons.. C’mon Anet, throw your participants a bone as well, otherwise it’s not entirely fair.
Same here i used 2 stacks of support tokens to vote yesterday and who didn’t got rewarded…
that…
ahrrrr…
That is absolute BS. After getting a stack of buttons I began deleting the tokens as I got them. I must’ve deleted over 1k. Complete and utter BS.
they should make buttons tradable the same….
There’s an easy fix to this and that’s letting us sell the representation buttons.
yea, this seems rather silly.
“A release is 7 days or less away or has just happened within the last 7 days…
These are the only two states you’ll find the world of Tyria.”
Oh come on people be reasonable its not nearly as dark as you’re making it sound.
For starter no one knew at the end left overs could be sold for money.
Secondly those who got support tickets got to take part in the event as well, if they didnt they wouldnt have support tickets.
Third those who voted got to decide on which content / benefits to get. Thats worth much more then a little gold.
This is for left over from the event. I took part I voted but like many others didnt know the exact time the event was closing (to be honest I even forgot it was going to close yesterday) And when it close I had a some support tickets left. Took time and effort to farm them its only fair you can get something in return. If I had used them as intended (which is what I did for most of the tickets) I would have gotten back a chance to choose the game direction. Like this I get some silver.
I dropped nearly 200 tokens on the vote.
I guess I am a little annoyed at this. Not because my fellow players might have a few extra gold than I because of this, but because its yet another illogical decision by arenanet.
They are trying balance out for the folks that didnt vote and that didnt put their say into the vote. I dont think its “fair” and they should just revert it or whatever, but its not a huge deal to be honest. Is it really impacting your fun experience?
For me, this is getting funny, however. I left WoW because over time I disagreed with their design decisions(over the course of a year or so). I left Tera because I disagreed with theirs. I have been disagreeing with arenanets development direction for a while now, and I can see where this might end up toward the end of the year. All of these little things are starting to add up. Lack of REAL content/combat/lore/personal story in favor of ‘flavor of the month’ mini games, achievements, and one-sentence story telling.
Wait what. It’s fair you get something in return for forgetting to vote? What kind of logic is that?
What about the buttons? If we can sell those too, perhaps for more, would reward the voters more.

I don’t think those who voted deserve special treatment, but I think at least the same as those who didn’t is in order.
You’re not getting something in return for forgetting to vote. I didnt forget to vote, I cast 100s of votes. You’re getting something in return for votes you earned but didnt get the chance to cast.
Why is it so hard to see things for what they are? they could have done nothing and everyone would be happy. Yet they went over and above that and giving a small reward to people who had some left overs.
This is a nice gesture nothing else, why is it so hard to appreciate it for what it is?

We participated. Half of us got screwed, since we voted for Evon. If we get more reward, it encourages participating. If we dont, it sends the message “it pays more to not participate in our events”. So yes, we do deserve special treatment.
Point proven in post below.
Lesson learned: don’t engage in story content, you’ll get richly rewarded!
Actually I didn’t really care about who won. But I spend around 300 tokens just to take part. And now I learn I could have saved them to get (just taking the 1.1s from above) 330s = 3.3 gold for it?
Ah I don’t care, next time I do it as usually: good horses never jump higher than needed.
I think Saelune’s idea is nice.
Seafarer’s Rest (SFR)
Human Mesmer
WHUT? I’ve deleted all my remains Tickets and button when election had come to an over. WHY in the hell dev’s put such a ridiculous thing like this??
Lesson learned: don’t engage in story content, you’ll get richly rewarded!
thats exactly the lesson i have learned from this
I had around 275 support tokens and destroyed them after the elections result email was sent. I thought they would be worthless
Nice to know now I destroyed close to 3g …
Only 1 silver. I’m glad it’s not like 5 or 10 silver each that would have caused a big backlash, and rightly so.
If players continue this behavior I have a feeling the only lesson learned here will be by Arenanet… Dont do nice things for players, they’re just unable to appreciate the gesture.
You got achievement points for using those tokens didn’t you? Obviously you got paid for using them since Achievement Points unlock those chest that give you items, gold, skins, and account bound MF.
Also it is your own fault if you dropped/destroyed tokens. I didn’t use mine and had to lug them around wasting space in my inventory the entire time. So it isn’t anyone’s fault except your own.
gonna keep all my buttons just in case :/

Well, its kinda like scenes after credits at a movie. Yeah, its cool if you waited and saw it, but if you left when it ended, you missed out. Now many people often wait after credits wondering if anything will happen… but then it feels wasteful if it doesnt happen. Im one of those waiters, I dont delete old event stuff now, in fear I will miss out…it encourages hoarding of tokens, which leads to clutter. Maybe it wouldnt be so bad if they said what we can do with the tokens after, at the start of the event. If this next part said “Use this token to get this during event, can be sold/traded after” then atleast we would be made aware.
People keep proving my point after my posts -. -
Really? Really? Who’s grand idea was this?
At the very least we should have been informed something like this may happen!
if they have done this with these tokens, i atleast hope the queens gauntlet tokens will drop at the same rate and sell for 1.1s after the event. and ofc they give everyone abit of warning that they will be able to be sold afterwards
Fair? It is fair.
Those who voted and took part in the election system got what they wanted. They were able to take part in something and vote for a candidate they wanted. You want to vote and get paid for it too?
Those who didnt care about a virtual election of some NPC got nothing for this except token for an event they didnt care about. This is what those people get out of it. I saw many people asking if there was anything else they could do with their tokens since they didnt care one bit about this ‘election’.

Nice, I still have 10 tokens left that I forgot to use.
Although I’m glad they gave us an outlet for these now useless items. I am very upset by the fact I just tossed all my excess items yesterday after the voting closed as I thought it would be as useful as the other temporary items left in game.
Please next time Anet; >>>tell us when you are going to do this!<<< not notifying us just punishes players rather than rewarding us.

I didnt get what I wanted. I voted for Evon.
Well shoot, I destroyed all my tokens yesterday. Two stacks. That’s at least 5g.
Oh well

They couldnt have said beforehand what they planed to do. That would have guaranteed the minimum number of votes just to get the achievements would be cast and the rest would be horded to be sold. This event wasnt about making money it was about getting to choose which content comes next. Where the story heads to next as well as what perks you get. Stating intentions would definitely have tainted that like multiple posts above make clear. Just count the people who say if they knew they wouldnt have voted.
As for hording vs deleting I understand what you mean, we all come face to face with that decision. I had a feeling they might be useful somehow. It was all too sudden how the voting ended without a least a little message beforehand. I have a feeling that wasnt intended at all and something didnt work as intended. Arenanet always try to make up for it when something like this happen so I said I’ll hold on to them for a little while.
Anyone wanna buy my vote(s)?
;)
Heh.. Sold!

ahhh i just destroyed my leftover tokens- that will teach me to take rash actions without reading the forums first!

You got what you wanted. You wanted Evon to win, your vote gave him a better chance. The outcome didnt turn as you wished it to turn fair enough but you made your mark just like everyone else who voted.

What? As far as we knew there was 1 and only 1 use for these…voting. On top of that it took loads of clicking to vote. Had we known these would have any value I highly doubt many players at all would have used them outside of maybe 10 for the achievement. I know I used multiple stacks of these just b/c there simply wasn’t any use of them or value to them. Now I am told had I not wasted my time I would have been rewarded with a heafty amount of gold? Nah…this is udder crap.
The amount of uproar about a few gold (so far 3 gold is the highest I have seen) is amazing. People want it because someone else gets a few coins for free. It is pure jealousy.
(Just try to be happy for those players who got something out of it.)

“You got what you wanted. You wanted Evon to win” Uh, he didnt win.
I didnt get what I wanted. I voted for Evon.
You knew that was a possible outcome. You still got to partake in the event to vote that you obviously cared about who won.

Yeah, but I should not be punished for partaking in the event. If the buttons are also sellable, then I am not punished. If just the tokens are sellable, I am punished.

but you took part and were well aware that your chosen candidate might not win. I don’t take part in facades of democracy, whether in game or real life
So guys, if it will be 1s per tokken, is not so much…. Doesn’t matter.

If there was no reward for the tokens, this wouldnt be an issue. If the reward was more fair, there wouldnt be an issue. Sure, people would always argue, but sometimes its just arguing, sometimes its an issue.
So, you guys are being mad about not getting something between 1g and 10g. This must be a great loss for you.
I am deeply sorry for your loss.
