Guild Wars 2

I only played original story with Zhaitan and don’t know who are Kasmeer Meade, Marjory Delaqua and others? Where can I read previous story? Who are they? Why are they my comrades? This is very confusing, while wiki provides very short sighted and uncolorful view on them.

Quick question: what resources have the people who missed ‘’key parts’’ of the first season, or are just new to the game (or are Chinese) to know these characters?
I really don’t know, and I thought they would have added some kind of introduction or something, but i really have no idea.

Nope, you just get thrown into the events. Who are this comrades? Who are zephyrites? What’s going on? No answers, here is story in your face.

Also, where are my old friends? Where is Faren, Queen or her left hand mesmer? They were in some past event (with new Divinity’s Reach and, AFAIK, Scarlet) and now they aren’t.

In my situation, I saw some events with Scarlet and her mechanical madness, but why and how it ends I don’t know. Now I have something more interesting – not global event, but new story! – and I know nothing of it. This is actually pretty awful and meanly.

Also, why those Charr and Asura so ugly? They don’t like normal asura and charr, like cinematic version of them. Also human girls have the same illness, but in less degree. Those big eyes of Charr are ugly and emphasized neat face of asura… Terrifying.

That’s the official introduction to season 2 for people who missed out on LS1 i think. Doesn’t explain the characters but gives a rough overview of what happened.

As of now the Major players currently involved in S2 story are…

Protagonists
-Our character (Commander of the Pact and Leader of the Investigation Team)
- Investigation Team (Braham, Rox, Marjory, Kasmeer, and Tiami)
- Seraph (They are in Dry Top to track down the Bandits in the Black Market of Divinity Reach)

Antagonist
-Sinister Traid (Current hints from NPCs show they are involved with the Black Market Bandits the Seraph are tracking) (Consisting of Bandits, Inquest, and Nightmare Court) (There are rumers the Sinister Traid are involved with the White Mantle)

Neutral
-Zephyrites (Their alignment is unknown but as of now be prepared for anything with their alignement due to the Secret the Master of Peace is hiding and that some Zeph are afraid of the Master of Peace.)

We can expect the others to join in as the story progress.

If they don’t add any kind of historian or some npc who explains the whole season 1 thing (i don’t know if there’s already one), they should add some big sticky on the forum or a permanent link on the launcher to that trailer and the wiki page.
I really didn’t know they were managing things like that. The jump from the personal story to season 2 is a big one…

So the same complaint could be leveled at every PART 2 movie ever released.

There is plenty of resources available to explain and summarize LS1 for players.

Movies =/= GW2 seasons.
Noone can replay the previous season, while obviously you can watch the first part of a movie whenever you want…

Anet should have considered this problem when they first came up with the Living Story idea. If a new or returning player comes into the LS, how do they know what is going on? Since this new Season is a continuation of the First season, how do new players know what happened in the first season? Yes, they can read the Wiki but there should be a in-game resource that not only explains the situation but gives some cinematics to provide the flavor of what has gone before.

This is part of the reason that I think people are kind of upset with the story in Season 2 Episode 1. Because people don’t like the Marjory – Kes background being practically retold in flimsy fashion. However, I think this is to introduce new players to the characters slowly so we might get more and to those of us who played Season 1 might get some refreshing but also learn new things.

This is Episode 1 after all.

Ahem…like a real world?
In the one moment you kill an elder dragon with a military organisation you built up in the story, in the next mission you stand in front of five random strangers, who are supposedly your longterm friends, to fight alongside them.
What about that is supposed to feel real?
The random strangers/friends who you never met before or the sudden mentioning of Scarlet, who you haven’t heard before either?
Imagine that the whole story-arc of the orders and the preparation to fight you just finished the tutorial with your character, did the one dynamic event afterwards and suddenly stand in Orr to fight Zhaitan.
Then what would you have done? Read the wiki?

Seriously, this is an established studio for computergames with a long and successful history in rpg’s. They could at least have placed a small introduction for the characters into the content. Like Majory introducing the group to her sister in a short cinematic.

Anet already discuss this before but they’re currently working on getting Season 1 storyline into the Journal as replayable content.

However, it is not released now because they have to adjust things so players can play S1 storyline solo.

I haven’t checked it myself but when I was passing through Gendarren Fields I did find a star in my map (similar to a personal WP you put or the story WP but not green) that was titled Living Story Season 1 recap or something similar to recap. You could try checking that out.

That star leads you to Bloomanoo and Peneloopee who give a very quaggan-oriented “recap” in about 4 sentences. I’m not sure that’s worth a map star and the name “Living Story Season 1 Recap” but I would definitely give it a map star just so people can find the quaggans
