Facet of Light bugged?
Dulfy said there’s RNG with it but I noticed that it followed a green > blue > red sequence when I did it. Green and blue may have been swapped but irregardless, red was always the third in the sequence.
I had gotten BLUE 4 times in a row before seeing a RED. It seems like it’s simply random. Many of these fights are about having patience more than anything else. Take your time, avoid attacks best as possible and be ready to unload when you do get the “RED LIGHT”
It’s a random color. If you are in a group the others can use green/blue without making you lose the achievement. Just need to get red once then.
Second try solo, I’ve spent almost an hour on this, got red only twice, got him down only about 40%, it’s a pain. Every time the red shield ends and try to get out the field, I get pulled back in an die (17K + health to zero in less than a second). Seems like doing this with a Necro is impossible. How about random bosses, rooms, traps & loot in dungeons instead of this crap Anet?
The buff you get has a timer on it, 15 seconds I believe. Keep your mouse on it and when you hit 2-3 seconds run out. Or use ranged and stay near the border so you can dodge out. You shouldn’t have a problem staying alive. You should have enough time even if he stuns you once.
No matter what color I got, I was able to go in and damage the boss some. Red did the most damage and took it out at the end. You do have to watch how many seconds and leave before the buff is up otherwise it is insta-death. I started running out of that circle once it was down to about 5 secs just to make sure.

They were going for the achievement.
Sola, I thought it was impossible for a solo necro the first few times I tried with my usual power build. It was really easy as a Minion Master though, so maybe give that a try.

Minions won’t work for the next Facet, but for this one they’re great. Once you’ve beaten it, you can switch your specs for the next fight to whatever you like.

You don’t even need to mouse over it. When you have a couple of seconds left it starts flashing on your boons icons. I did it on my thief, and at the flash I had time for one or two more attacks before I double dodged out of the circle.
Question for those suggesting group effort: can more than one person get the red buff at once if they all kill the minion together? Or do you have to take turns?
I wasn’t getting red over and over and over and over again.. so I started hanging out around the red one… and miraculously they started teleporting to red more often. Dunno if that was coincidence, but maybe it’s worth a try.
I’d prefer RNG achievements such as this not be made again to be honest. This one was frustratingly long.

I tried that several times. One playthrough it spawned at red several times in a row. The other playthroughs it seemed to avoid red for over 10 minutes despite me standing on it. There might be streaks but it’s still essentially random I think.

It doesn’t matter how many people kill the minion. Once the color is activated all of you can get the buff.
Seems rather obvious, but do try to do it with a pure dps build. That way you won’t have to get red light more than two times (or at worst three). Or do it in a group – make other members get the other buffs while you keep the red, and then just reset the fight through mote after it is done and switch places.
Another note – minions/summons/illusions/phantasms created before you get the shield will also get it, but those summoned after won’t. That means mesmers are generally out of luck here.
Remember, remember, 15th of November

Yeah the achievement for this one isn’t fun at all and I would rather it didn’t have this arbitrary time gated rng attached to it. Spent 20+ mins on this and it alternated between blue and green for the most of it. At one point it went to green about 7-8 times in a row.

True, here is my mesmer solo of the achievement : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PXjJoZytf5s
Starts at 0:52, it took me 15+ minutes to get two red buffs, i cropped the first part until I got my 1st red buff.
To help the OP as a necro :
- Use Power gear
- Use a power melee weapon such as dagger main hand.
- Spawn your minions BEFORE you activate the protective bubble so they get it aswell (this is what I did when I summoned the ogre pet and the fire elemental)
- Don’t run in the colours or you will get pushed away (usually back inside the damage area).
Good luck.

After my several tries, it is totally random. Your position doesn’t matter, pulling the add to the red switch doesn’t matter, killing it before or after it teleports doesn’t matter…
