I understand you can and will play this game anyway you want, but i’m tired of all these gold-mesmers getting fast cash for porting you here and there. and why can they do it? well, because only so many CAN do it (only mesmers), so I aim to spread this out more evenly.
In the new JP in silverwastes, theres many badges that mesmers enjoy selling ports to, well, badge #7 (in dulfy’s video) anyone can port from, you just need an Experimental Teleportation Gun. You use it to shoot yourself forwards(from the badge), into the sloped ground underneath, where a portal will spawn, and now anyone can get up there.
I personally used this method to port people there for free for multiple hours today.
Now use this to sell, or do it for free. Whatever the case the market just opened up, reducing prices and maybe in the future anulling them totally
There is no waypoint rezzing in real life,

If there was money to be made in porting, all you would see would be mesmers all over the maps, enough said,
I have seen several mesmers that have said porting for tips etc, ive only seen 1 Mesmer do this recently in the new area to get a coin, after I watched them themselves being ported up by another Mesmer, so I brought my Mesmer there and ported people up for free for 30 mins.
The New JP cannot be ported threw seeing as you must hit the 9 milestones.

I have never asked for any gold when I ported ppl. That being said, just refuse to pay if you think it is unfair. There will always be a free ride later. When I’m on with my mesmer I advertise free lunch for all.

You don’t need an teleportation gun, jump on the speed boost thingy, then on the ledge below the badge and relog, you will spawn next to the badge. The teleportation rifle is to make coin 30 on Dulfy’s guide easy mode, just need 2 rather easy jumps.
when mesmers port they don’t charge money, they accept tips. Important difference.
I’ve never seen a mesmer actually charge before they port, so them getting money from it is on a volunteer basis. If you don’t want to pay them, don’t.
I’ve ported before, most people don’t tip, for the few that do, it’s appreciated, for those that don’t, it’s okay, mesmers are just using a skill anet gave them to help some people out.
This really is not any different than someone paying to be ran somewhere (Droks run anyone?) or have a mission ran for them in GW1 (Zen Daijun anyone?).
Now in GW2, this is on par with paying people to solo a dungeon path for you, or to carry you through a story mission for an achievement.
There will always be people that can’t manage it on their own and will be willing to pay someone to “help them out.” That’s just how human beings work.

Selling services has always been a part of the game, it’s natural. Some people cannot or don’t want to do some stuff, this leads to buying dungeon paths, mesmer portals or map overflows. In the case of dungeon path selling, Anet explicitly said they don’t mind it and that it is in perfect agreement with the game rules (even tough they highly discourage it by removing instance owner).
As it was mentioned, many mesmers give portals for free. If you help for free as well, that’s great. People can choose whether they want to do the jumping themselves, search for someone giving it away or buy it. Their choice.
Btw… I personally did the same trick as you, but the portal gun didn’t work for me, so I used experimental gun. It doesn’t make you land directly on the ledge, but it will get you close enough to interact with the coin. So if you have trouble with the method mentioned above, you might wanna check out this one.
I don’t really see the problem with this. I’ve ported people before for free but I don’t really have an issue with Mesmers asking for money.
I’ve never seen a Mesmer actually charge for it before they port you, but sure some have said tips are welcome. They’re standing in place for minutes when they could be farming money elsewhere. I really doubt it’s more lucrative than straight out farming unless they charge an obscene amount.
It was a bit like GW1 ferries to skip some missions. Some people charged, some did it for free. It was up to the individual player how much they felt the convenience was worth.
The last few days I’ve seen a great many people advertizing to sell portal access to badges on the LFG tool, sometimes dozens at a time. As if the horribly bugged LFG tool isn’t useless enough as it is at the moment, even without the sales spam.

Option 1: don’t join LFG and do it yourself. Stop complaining about other people playing how they want.
Option 2: roll a mesmer and get money from lazy people for your own time investment in the class. Supply only exists if there is demand, so blame lazy people, not mesmers.
Option 3: save time on leveling a mesmer and use Watchwork Portal Device, and don’t you cry about cost.
For the most part I have seen mesmers in map chat offering free ports. I always consider it polite to tip though. I actually enjoy jumping puzzles though so I rarely use their services.
I’m not sure what you’re really complaining about OP – just envious of their earning potential? Feel free to create yourself a mesmer and then you can demand gold from people too, if that’s what you believe mesmers are doing.
