Really. Why on earth did they make them cost 12 geodes? Why would you waste them on tools when you can buy the tools elsewhere for 4s?
It’s a small thing, but ridiculous.

I do agree with you however. I know on my alts, spending geodes to by salvaging kits is annoying as if I leave the map I also lose my T4-5 instance and there is so much loot I always run out of salvaging kits.

It’s a ploy to sell more Copper-Fed Salvage-o-Matics. Want to save geodes but not lose your place in the map? Buy gems.

Ridiculous conspiracy theories aside, I think someone just picked an arbitrary number of geodes for the price, not realizing how valuable they are to the player. Sure you get almost that many geodes from 1 event during the sandstorm, but there’s enough loot going around to eat half your geodes if you buy salvage kits with them.

Just go to another map and buy it, don’t be lazy.

It’s there so that people who don’t want the geodes can cash them in, just like there are vendors who will give you tools for unwanted karma.

OR you could just make yourself a stockpile of portable vendors. You gotta gather at least 2 or three just doing dailies, right?

I would suggest you make Mystic Salvage kits with 3 mystic forge stones, 1 master kit, 1 journeyman kit and 1 fine kit. Toss them into the mystic forge and bam, 250 charges on a single kit. It may cost a bit more in terms of gold but 2 of those will last you for a really long time. If you don’t want to do that I suggest either buying a big 20 slot bag and filling that with the cheap salvage kits and just do it that way.

^That. Best to always have that stuff before going anywhere from your home city/wherever you go when you’re not killing something.
