I don’t know if this is a bug, but every time the Aspect Masters yell that it’s my chance in get in close, or actually yell “Get in close!” at me, if I actually do so…I take a bunch of damage.

The first time this happened, not only did I take a bunch of damage that, because I hadn’t expected it and was at somewhat low health to begin with, downed me – and then the guy who told me to get in close to begin with completely ignored that I was down, despite NPCs commonly being intended to rez players so far in the Living Story, and the other Aspect chick actually did pick me up the next time I was downed.

Not sure if these are bugs or reasons to distrust the Zephyrites, but it could really be either.

Yah, that line is kind of a mean trick.

Supposedly you don’t get hit if you go behind the Teragriff during that portion. But even if that is true (I haven’t been back in to test it at this point), the NPC’s don’t mention that, they just say GET CLOSE. And then you do and get smashed. Not cool. I’d rather have the NPC’s give no tips at all if the tips they’re giving are blatantly wrong (or at least partially wrong).

After realizing it was a trap I ignored the content of the shout and used it as a flag for when the boss was going to be standing still long enough to do some ground target ranged attacks on it (thief shortbow). It’s a highly misleading shout.

Because within a few moments of my first time fighting, the quote that came to mind was “It has nasty pointy teeth! It can leap about!”

Haha absolutely true! I got rekt and downed the first time doing this fight by that nonsense. I had the audacity to trust him for a second time before getting downed again. After that I just took it to mean he would stand still long enough for some Ice Bow 4 and Meteor Showers.

Actually a very easy fight with and without the challenge node. Just ignore the moron NPCs.

I’m not sure what everyone else’s problem is but I had no issues getting in close when they NPC’s yelled it, either from the side or back. IF you look closely at the Mordrem, it’s not facing you when they yell that, but stunned and facing sideways…as other’s have said, you can get in close, just not right in front of their face…same as the regular Tarragrif’s in SW. you can come up right behind them and from the sides(near the back) and not take damage, but get in front of them or near the front…

I just did it yesterday on my slow Guardian and the “get in close” did work for me. I doesn’t last very long and as soon as the Terragriff starts moving again get the hell away and use ranged and kill the little griffs first. But it did work. And when the concentric circles show up, get way the hell away.

The damage does follow you slightly but I find once I’ve dodged out of it, it doesn’t re-target me as long as I stay out of its field of vision. But yeah I pretty much had the same reaction the first time I did it. “Yay now I can melee him… oh crap this damage is insane wacks on endure pain”.

Considering that same npc comes out of the fight badly roughed up i would just not consider him as the most qualified to give battle advices.

Now if he came out unscatched after telling you stupid things that would be a different thing entirely…

Yeah, I guess his bad advice would explain why the Aspect Masters are so horrible at battle and would have all been dead if not for your intervention.

Or words to that effect.

“Get in close!” is a troll comment and should have been better worded like “Flank it!” or “Strike from behind!”. That would have been helpful.

Hahaha, yes please.

I noticed that I too melted very quickly on stacking with the NPC’s during this encounter. Given that the previous instances have taught us to listen to the dialogue for clues on how to do the fights, this is a very mean trick indeed.

If you notice, the teragriff actually sends out projectiles in the ground that home in on a target. When it connects with a target, it does damage in a radius. This is why it’s dangerous to stack.

You can trigger the projectiles by dodging through them and avoid all the damage – but you’ll quickly run out of endurance as the teragriff usually sends multiple your way if you’re unlucky enough to be the target.

I think the dialogue wasn’t intended as a trick and meant to be followed… in some way shape or form. The writing for this episode felt seriously subpar compared to the previous ones. Given how short it is, the thing may have been rushed.

After the first wave of adds, the teragriff is stunned for a few second, letting you get in to hack away for a bit before he wakes up.
After the second wave, it almost looks like the same is supposed to happen, but instead skips the ‘stunned’ period to go into his next attack.

So I don’t think it’s a bad NPC trying to trick us or anything like that. It’s just kitten poor programming making the event not behave the way the NPC is instructing.
