so i took a few months break from the game and just came back to see that all this new content has happened but as i understand it, the “living story” is only something that happens once right? so does that mean i have missed the chance to play through that content and get the flame gloves, or is it still available?

Yes, you missed it.

The Molten Alliance has been defeated, Flame and Frost is in the past. Sorry!

What’s going on now is that a renegade sylvari (you may have met him back in November if you did the Lost Shores) is stirring up trouble for the refugees from Flame and Frost that moved to Southsun Cove.

On a speculative note, it’s certainly possible that we could revisit aspects of the Flame and Frost content one way or another in the future, even making the gauntlets available again, but for now, you did in fact miss out.

hmm, has Anet released anything about plans to add some permanent content, this one time only stuff is cool and all but it kind of bums you out when you miss it.

In a way, it is permanent content if you think of it as permanently fresh content.

There will be a meta-event with a world boss added next weak on Southsun. That will be permanent.

If you hurry out to Ascalon it may still be possible to be frisked by sonic periscopes.

Confirmation of this please? I’m more inclined to think that once we sort out the stuff with Canach, the crazed animals (including this Crazed Karka Queen) will stop attacking the settlements, meaning that the meta-event will also stop occurring.

Wouldn’t mind if it stayed though; having another World Boss to drive players to Southsun Cove will be a good thing once the settlers and their awesome MF boost disappears.

The map-wide event and the Karka Queen fight will continue to be available even after the rest of the Last Stand at Southsun content goes away on June 11.
