An unsoloable (or very difficult to solo) personal story mission… really? That’s also close to impossible to complete thanks to random bugs, as well as hilarious boss mechanics where certain bosses just one shot you for no explainable reason. I sure hope you understand that a certain shield doesn’t actually shield you, just shoots you up into the air. By the way I hope you actually can glide in time because sometimes the glider just doesn’t open and you die. Awesome.

The fight has had tons of bug fixes and works pretty well now, don’t translate “I can’t do something” into “impossible to do.” The shield is for the NPCs the “shooting into the air” is to allow you to glide.

The fight itself is easy, it’s rather the glitchy behavior of the mechanics that make it hard. The shield really doesn’t help, which is stupid lorewise. You have to use the updrafts but even then the random rocks that hit you can knock you down and reset the fight be cause you almost always instant die. I don’t know if it is still like this.

I needed about 6 restarts, about 3 of those were due to the glitch that the -whatever it was portal/rift thingy- you had to go was in the air be cause the floating island was breaking apart and didn’t reset properly. Also that you have to start the fight anew is annoying since the boss has rather high healthpool with scripted sequences.

I thought it would be fun and it’s actually a cool fight but rather broken. It’s very game-consolesque and reminds me of the typical Devily May Cry and God of War style games during the PS2-3 era which I loved.

‘would have/would’ve been’ —> correct
‘would of been’ —> wrong

Also, the Blighted Pale Tree isn’t remotely tuned for solo players, or Anet thought people would really enjoy being knocked down literally every couple of seconds.

And that shield really should actually shield you, going into it invalidates you for the “don’t get hit while flying” achievement (the description of the achievement even explicitly says so), so they clearly intended it to function.

I used the shield to launch myself for my achievement, so no it doesn’t.

For what it’s worth, the Blighted Pale Tree won’t knock you over if you get in close range with her. Your choice is to deal with her knockback interrupt at range or dance between the rings in melee.

I would say stability would also be ideal, but I actually haven’t tried that — just closed to melee when she started integrating that with her attacks and dodged between the rings.

I found the fight quite enjoyable. Took me a few attemts to kill it which is fine. What I can’t really say I find enjoyable however is getting a boss that takes quite some time down to 20%, get killed because for some reason the funnels that allows you to glide won’t work, then having to start at 100%. How about some phases with checkpoints for the real long ones?

Did you feel happy when you beat it? Get that little rush of chemicals through your brain rewarding you? Thats what games are for and adding checkpoints just diminishes that reward.

You did it, can say to yourself that you accomplished it just as well as everyone else. no need to cheapen things that are perfectly doable with a bit of effort – it just makes the game worse in the long run.

The fight is fine (after all the launch bugs got removed).

Aha, so you are THAT kind of “pro gamer”. It would make the game worse for you because you definitely define those fancy genre words like effort differently than normal gamers. If it things were “cheapened” you can still be proud or brag for completeting it in the unnerfed version, instead of worrying that the nerfed version would cheapen your personal accomplishment (or like the elite complainers of the forum warriors: QQ that their “hard efforts” were for nothing <lol>)

I explained why I would worried for the game if encounters were made easier (the poster I was discussing with did not come back so I assume it understood my reasoning), I hold zero pride to lose in completing that encounter.

Your desperation to paint me in unfavourable terms only serves to highlight your complete lack of counter position or argument.
