Heirlooms reward doesn't match effort
Meh … haven’t really had much problem grabbing citizens while running around getting heirlooms from the rubbles. The swiftness I am using to help run between heirlooms faster is also helping the citizens run away faster too!
It’s about who you give the heirlooms to.
A sneaky thieving skritt or a relief aid volunteer.
Devil Horn potion is actually named Thoughtless Potion
Actually I have to agree with OP here. Searching rubble for heirlooms should grant selfish potion while rescuing citizens should grant the selfless potion. Right now the runs for the heirlooms takes zergs through events that level up and make it impossible to complete for those trying to do the event. Also I have been seeing folk running past those getting their butt handed to them while trying to rescue civilians and not even pausing to help. Not sure if they are on an heirloom search but dang that is so rude…
Im ok with how the Heirloom rewards are set up
250 Heirlooms takes a few days to farm but what really kills this reward is the 10g requirement on top of all that..
yes I like my horns but come on
after farming for several days to hit 250 Heirlooms throwing that 10g in there is a complete rip off
yes I paid it since I have an attraction towards demonic features much like I did with my Gw1 character who constantly work his Demon horns and Lich costume
but that 10g was a real unfair scam tbh

Firstly, you made it sound as in the farming took several days. We both know this is a lie, and you stated that for effect. It was 20-30 minutes of gathering heirlooms every day for a few days, 4-5 hours at most. 4-5 hours =/= several days.
10g is fair – a nice gold sink for an item that will be popular, but one that has a price tag that is not crippling to the daily player.

How can 10 gold be a scam or rip off when you already know what the price is? (heirlooms + gold) It is pretty up front and is your choice to pay it or not…. It all depends on how much you want that item. No one is forcing you to buy it.
I’m just totally upset I can’t use my potions in dungeons where I spend 80% of my time. Would be pleased if this was to change. * wink wink*

I’ve yet to understand how that even works? first they cripple item pets because they strain the system to much. even tho it wasn’t an issue first the year and half. and now suddenly a little halo/horns in dungeons is impossible? I’m sensing hidden budget cuts over on their side.
Next we’re gonna learn all weapon effects have been disabled in dungeons.
I’m still not sure if I want to pay +10g after spent joyless hours of collecting a stack of Heirloom… I would feel rip’off’d… likely I will not… can’t even check how would it look on my Grenth’s Hood…
BTW I consider this price a very straight kind of forcing us to GRIND.

I don’t understand this logic.
‘’I feel ripped off and forced to buy this car because the Queen of England is getting old’’
That’s how it sounds to me. Complete gibberish.
I am pretty sure being unable to use it in dungeons is a bug. The game actually considers dungeons to be a separate game type and they forgot to set it as a valid game type where you can use this item.

How you can’t understand it? After we FARMED these things and not help the people who want 1200 rescue, we need to PAY 10g above it.- meanwhile this should be an unlockable achievement reward…

To some of us farming 10g isnt as easy as other people make it out to be
a lot of people can make that in a few hours through WvW
but here’s the thing
many of us Don’t play WvW and there are those like myself who actually hate WvW content even more so since you need wvw maps for 100% world completion but that’s a whole different rant
10g for me is a significant amount of money specially to put into something so simple as a devil horn animation..
I mean we are talking twice the price of an ascended earing here which is far more useful than a cosmetic potion
10g is way too much money to be spent on such a simple purely cosmetic potion
you may ask then why did I buy it and I will simply answer because I really wanted it and it’s a limited time item
in short I had no choice but to pay up the 10g
that doesn’t mean at all that I have to be happy about it
I simply like pricing to be fair
it costs around 1g for a functional costume brawl quaggan tonic on the trading post
but a little halo animation costs 10g and has no effects other than cosmetic
is that really a fair trade specially when it takes 7 days of running the rubble piles collecting Heirlooms..
unless of course you are one of those people who are willing to dedicated 50+ hours of constant farming in LA to get the Heirlooms instead
I agree with RoyalPredator these potions should have been Achievement rewards
First, you have a choice of giving the Heirlooms back to the citizens which is Selfless or selling them which is Selfish. If you were searching for Heirlooms to return them that is not selfish.
But I did not bother with either potion because you have to keep activating it. I don’t bother with any of the cosmetic stuff that isn’t persistent in the world. I don’t spend any significant time in “town” so minis, this type of potion, town clothes, etc. are completely uninteresting to me. If they made all these things persistent (“town” clothes were worn over your regular armor, etc. ala LotRO), I would definitely be interested.

That’s different
the choice of giving them back or selling them is just a choice ingame
what doesn’t make sense is why you would pay 10g to sell them for a thoughtless potion..
that’s like going to Mc’Donalds and paying them to let you make your own burgers..

I agree with this. Farming the heirlooms was already less than fun, and 10g is nothing to sneeze at for a lot of players. Despite this being my primary game to play and despite playing since launch, the most gold I’ve ever had in my bank at one time is 67g. Dropping 10 of that on a purely cosmetic item doesn’t feel good.
Yes, I paid it. Why? Because after participating in living story event after living story event and not having anything to show for it due to real world time constraints, I finally had an entire weekend that I could devote to the event. I just really hope this doesn’t become a regular trend.
I think there should be some visible reward for participating in the events, but as it is, it seems like every reward is for grinding.

LOL! I haven’t heard anyone claim that WvW rewards more money than PvE in over a year. Thanks for the laugh.

If you re-read the OP he doesn’t mention anything about the 10g which is why I don’t either.
