That NE corner with all the Centaurs. There is no way that I see to complete it. Surely they don’t expect me to be able to beat dozens of Veteran Centaurs at once, right?

I’m just a casual player and I like the new zones for exploring. On the whole this zone seems MUCH better and more friendly than Bitterfrost was. There are actually way to AVOID the enemies – imagine that.

I kept standing on the hill opposite the centaurs watching, waiting for some “meta event” to happen there that causes a zerg of players to storm the Centaur base, or something like that. Never happened. Is there one? Did I miss it?

I never saw ONE character go more than 10 feet up that hill before getting creamed, like I was.

How/When are we to get those remaining spots on the map? It looks like there are at least 300% more enemies there than there should be

You can use the LFG to find people farming it.

There’s also an alternative way that put you near the top where the collection item is. You’ll still have to kill centaurs but it’s more manageable.

The centaur village is the leather farm they promised us. Within hours of release squads were already forming to farm it. I would expect to see this quickly become a routine sight on LFG.

Having said that, if you’d like an easier route to the point of interest at the top of the centaur village there is another way. Take a closer look around the cliff area that overlooks the village to the north. You need to access this same area to get a nearby vista and mastery insight. There is another way to the top.

You will still have to run past some champion and elite centaurs, but it’s much easier than attempting to solo run the gauntlet from the base of the centaur village.

There are a few ways to go up the POI.

1. The normal way. Go through the crazy amount of mobs to the top. Usually you will die in the valley of snipers.

2. Via Watcher’s Hollow. There is a small path east of watcher’s hollow which can only be jump to when you reach the tree. Jump onto that path, head out the small exit and walk your way around to north east. You will see a pile of rocks, those rocks can be jumped to reach the POI.

3. Via Centaurs Camp. North east of the base camp, there is a pile of rocks which you can climb up to reach the Watcher’s Hollow. You can read second half #2 once you have climbed up.

I suicided into both point of interest areas by the centaurs. There was no one else there doing anything. I have never seen anyone else there. I showed my husband how to get there last night. He went for the easier lower one first, got surrounded and I went in to help him. We sat there killing centaurs for 10 minutes. They just keep spawning. Let’s just say that the loot from all that was less than impressive. I told him how to get to the spiral point via the Watchers Hollow rear exit. He got in there, got the point died, and we never have to go back there.

I watched a video and tried the upper POI but was not able to get past the Champion and hoards of Veterans.

I ran up that hill on my Guardian without Stability. Used Meditation skills for burst heals, plus the Elite Signet for heals every few seconds. Made it up there with little trouble. Shield is good to have as #5 absorbs projectiles.

You can use the ash legion and whispers kits to get a break from attacks. Experimental rifle and teleport gut for leaps which could be used near the end of stealth. Pet whistle and elemental powder to give additional targets for the enemies.

You forgot about all the Champions and Stampedes.

Yes, you are supposed to join a farm zerk and overrun the place — it’s the only way.

Go up the backway, clumb the pile of rocks and then stealth glide to the tower stone. Then run fast around tower counter clockwise and rush in, get chest too if can. If still alive run out again and glide down, stop for more chests. Make sure to utilize stealth glide. Projectile denial is important or atleast any defensive skill.

Watch the centuar patrols, they are not random and with timing you can avoid them somewhat. If a centuar sniper is heading counter clockwise at tower stone then WAIT. Don’t want to run into it

A cheap tactic you can use to make it to the POI or tower stone is to run until you are near death (25% or so, any lower and lag might kill you) and then quickly log off to the character select screen and back on again. On return you will be at full health and all mobs will have lost aggro (the sharpshooters will probably see you and start attacking right away). Repeat until you reach your goal. It’s not the most noble route, but it works.

The easiest way is to zerg.

The second easiest way is for 8+ people to take the path up past the Peach Tree and kill everything on the way (density of centaurs on top is much less than on the bottom). Added bonus: leather + progresses your story if you’re at the relevant step.

That said, I find it horribly frustrating that map completion on Lake Doric is gated behind something so difficult for most people. Hero Challenges in the original HoT maps don’t come close, since there are regular trains and you get a minimum set reward. There are no such guaranteed rewards for discovering this POI.

tl;dr there are a lot of ways to reach the POI, none of them easy for the “casual” player trying to go it alone.

You actually can run there solo. Climb the rock pile behind the centaur camp and run like hell to a secondary opening in the tower ( counter clockwise round the tower ). I did it on Mesmer and (barely) survived. Then jump off the cliff and glide away.

I really don’t get what the big deal is with this PoI. There is a path that takes you very near the PoI itself before you even come in range of any enemies. 1 blink and I was at the door to the room, then two dodges inside and you hit the PoI. That’s like a total of under 2,000 units. Every class has the ability to cover that distance, whether via stealth, teleports, blocks, reflects, large access to heals, whatever. Even Necro should be able to do it easily if they have full life force.

I’ll just say that running the suicide gauntlet for that POI with my friends became a memorable badge of honor and pride for us.

I’ve get the poi taking some break to kill cenrtaurs with my berserker necro (blood, soul reapering, reaper), with signet of the locust/“rise!”/spectral wall utilities.

At almost every hour of the day in the LFG tool there’s a squad going in to farm leather in that area. The loot is less than impressive killing on centaur at a time, or two. The loot is more impressive when you join the squad and kill everyone.

Open up your LFG tool, go to the open world tab, and click on Lake Doric. Odds are any time you do that there’ll be one leather or centaur farm up.

The only thing people do that farm for is the leather. Leather is expensive now and people don’t want to buy it to craft there ascended gear (on top of everything else they need).

I’ve done the leather centaur farm on at least 3 characters so far to get those points of interest, all of them at off hours, since I’m in Australia, I guarantee you, you don’t need to solo this point. Just join a squad, jump to their server and follow the herd.

It’d be nice if they’d put a regular meta event that takes you to these points of interest. Like the maw event in Silverwastes or something. And incentive for enough players to show up, and maybe enough NPCs to make it happen.

Go via the peach tree and keep climbing.

It takes a while to learn the way up the final bit of scree up to a platform with powerful centaurs on it, but once there you can string some tricks together for the last dash to the tower. Make sure you go to the right, to the south side of the tower because that’s the way in. The only real threat is the sharpshooters of elite or champion variety, everything else you can dodge or weave past. The poi is right in the middle of the tower and you might get shot to death once you’re there so don’t hang about.

Climb and glide as closer as possible. Then run and get the poi. Is not that hard, you just need to find a decent route to climb. I did it with only 2 more random guys.

As I’ve said about all HoT maps: I don’t know what people are going to do once this zone is dead.

If this one source of leather is truly intended to bring leather in line with ore, wood, and cloth, I’m sure it will be tweaked somehow.
