I stopped playing at Ember Bay due to being fatigued with the story. But, I know I need to suck it up and do it eventually, especially before the new expansion comes out (I see no reason why I shouldn’t get it on release day, it’ll give me more places to explore).
So, if I was to sit down for a weekend and play from Ember Bay onward, how long would that take? Mind you, I get easily frustrated by difficult enemies, so I can’t say I would necessarily defeat bosses on my first try.
Thanks!
It has taken me about 2-3 days to get through each LS3 episode. But this also involves completing the map and doing some achievements. The bosses can be annoying if you do them first time, and like me, avoid reading any spoilers before. If you already know what the fight is about, it becomes much easier as they all have special mechanics you simply follow.
You can rush through each chapter in a couple of hours if you just want to get the story done, so about 12 hours for the whole of LS3.
As for difficult bosses, they’re tend to be significantly easier with friends, so if you have someone to party up with you’ll find it a lot quicker.

Sadly, I am a solo player (hence why I hate PvP and WvW). :P I can never make or find the time to set aside to group up with people.

What you can try to do is ask people in the map for help. This generally won’t be helpful for the first instance, but on the last instance, which is always on the new map for the chapter, someone might be willing to help out.
I always go through the story solo first (and on a squishy Daredevil who often loses armor pieces in the fights thanks to dirt naps, because tradition, traDiTION!). I also do it under time pressure because episodes usually drop around noon my time and by five pm I have to be getting ready to head out on errands with my husband. Under these constraints, to the best of my recollection I have gotten every LS3 chapter done immediately upon release. Just one run through, no dilly dallying for achievements (though I do take time to listen to all the dialogue and take a lot of screen shots, and if map exploration is part of advancing the story I do that too). I fervently want to avoid spoilers, thus my need to get it done asap the first time.
So yeah, as Stitch said there’s plenty of time between now and PoF launch to work through the story, assuming you can play more than one hour a week. If you’re on NA and tend to play in the afternoons eastern time, please add me as a friend and PM me on forums if you don’t see me in game to ask for help. I’m looking for projects in between running many alts through HP chains! (Note: this offer does not apply 1st week of September when I will be hosting my mom during her move to my area. Computer time will still happen, but less of it).
I just did Episode 1 and 2 one day, 3, 4, and 5 the next day, and then 6 the day after that, and that included doing map completion. Also, I did all the story stuff solo.
If you just rush through the story, it probably shouldn’t take you that long. Even some of the nastier story fights can generally be pushed through by constantly respawning.
