Honestly, I like the design of the Mawdrey. But the method of going about doing it just doesn’t feel right as you are practically just gathering more items just to make it better both in physical appearance and stats. Assuming that Anet makes something similar to the Mawdrey in the future, perhaps they can go with this approach: Why not make, say the equivalent of the Mysterious Vine into an Ascended/Legendary (if that is possible) item, which would require more mats to make than before and what would make it stand out is that it would change forms as more updates are released.

The best way to improve this is to remove it from the game and not develop silly back pieces in the future.

How it could be improved: When we feed Maudrey II Bloodstone Dust, it says “Feed me!”, similar to the Copper-Fed Salvage Kit.

The improvement I would like is… to craft unskinned exotic spineguards at 400 crafting, and ascended spineguards at 500, in much the same way you craft gloves.

It may be cheaper than the other ascended back items, but it’s very expensive for what you get. An exotic berserker’s spineguard should be about 7 gold.
